Poor Cliff and Clair, at the beginning of each season starting with the 4th, one or more of their kids would make surprise life altering announcements, that would have Cliff and Clair believing that their kids will forever be living at home.

Season 4 (1987-1988)

"Call of the Wild"

Sondra and Elvin return from their honeymoon with major announcements. Elvin is dropping out of medical school and Sondra is dropping out of law school to open a "Wilderness" store.

Season 5 (1988-1989)

"Together Again and Again"

Denise makes the announcement that she's dropping out of college and Theo finds himself without a dorm room.

Season 6 (1989-1990)

"Denise: the Saga Continues"

Denise returns from Africa with three surprises. She's married and now has a stepdaughter and they have no place to live.

Season 7 (1990-1991)

"Same Time, Next Year"

Rudy refuses to attend the first day of 6th grade because she hasn't developed yet.

Season 8 (1991-1992)

"With This Ring?"

Vannessa announces her engagement to a man who's 10 years older than her.

I was just watching the episode with Denise dropping out from Hillman. That would be my second favorite. The first would be the debuts of Martin and Olivia. I was cracking up when Denise told her parents about not going back to school.
