Ryan Lochte Premiere Sinks on E!

"What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" As it so happens, not many people cared to find out.

The E! reality series scored a paltry 807,000 viewers during its first outing at 10 p.m. Sunday, according to Nielsen. The heavily promoted vehicle for the Olympic swimmer did see a sizable chunk of its audience in the targeted adults 18-to-49 demographic with 528,000 viewers, but that still only cranks out to a 0.4 rating.

Another 551,000 tuned in for the 11 p.m. encore, which saw 381,000 viewers in the demo.

Here’s what Ryan Lochte shouldn’t do: Give up his day job.

E! has pulled the plug on the Olympian swimmer’s reality series "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" after one season, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

An E! rep declined to comment. An insider at the network, meanwhile, tells us they hope to work with Lochte again in the future.



"What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" received a huge marketing push when it debuted last April, but visibility didn’t translate into ratings. The premiere drew an underwhelming 800K viewers, and the audience dropped precipitously with each episode.

The May 27 finale drew just over 300K viewers.

I never watched the show. Although Ryan does have a winning personality, I guess it just couldn't carry a show...
