Their were multiple episodes during the course of DS 8 year run when the guest characters seemed really shocked to find out that arnold and wills father was a white man and then mr drummond had to stoop down to their level and explain why those two black boys are his son.

Yeah no problem with that but the adults seemed like it was not possible for a white guy to adopt black kids on DS

I believe a lot of that was just dealing with the times Late 70s/Early 80s. I mean, having that be the premise of the show, "Diff'rent Strokes" proves they were going to get some reactions of surprise. Although its more common to see white adopting black children today, some folks would still react awkwardly to it.

Yeah there was that episode from season one where there visited by the social worker lady. She says black children belong with black parents. At the end of the episode she like that's what my computer told me so it is probably what people believed back than.

Gabgirl i agree with you, the social worker lady in the first season seemed like she was lying to not make drummond and wills and arnold think she was stuck up and racist, i dont think that came from her computer that came from her own bigot thinking saying black children belong with black parents lol

I dont think the social worker lady was racist or anything like that. At the end of the episode when that black couple almost adopted arnold and willis she saw that mr drummond and them really loved each other and she said i think i will tell my computer to go suck a lemon. I think she was just following what the computer told her to do so it was less of her being racist and more just following what she was told to do.

Even tho the white social lady looked kinda mean in the episode she was not racist it was arnold trying to cause trouble for drummond and the social woman he was having a conversation with, arnold should not have been ease dropping he should have stayed to listen to the whole story before jumping to conclusions and getting his brother pissed off to the point he wants to move out the pint house the next day.

no the social lady already left and mr drummond was talking to mrs garret and telling her how the social lady said black children belong with black families and then arnold over herd that thinking mr drummond said it and ment it when he was just repeating what the social lady said so arnold didnt eas drop on the social worker just him talking to mrs garret

I no but arnold should have told drummond about what he heard not stuck up bratty willis, willis grew out of that bratty attitude by the 4th or 5th season.
