Could an idea work for an episode of sanford and son where a teenage kid knocks on fred sanfords door claiming that he is the son of lamont ?

Norman Lear used a similar premise with Mike Stivik in an All In The Family episode. Although, later in the episode it turned out Mike was not the father of the child.

I don't think it would have improved the show if a teenager entered the series as a son of Lamont's. They added a teenager by having Esther and Woodrow adopting Daniel.

One constant in the show was that Fred and Lamont remained solely committed to each other throughout the series and it really worked.

No lamont having a son would not have helped the series in the last season but to here fred sanford say my cold blooded 36 year old son is a father would have been funny to hear from his mouth lol
