View Full Version : Black sitcoms that went downhill TMC 04-16-2013, 06:11 PM http://madamenoire.com/271986/black-sitcoms-that-went-south-was-it-ratings-or-wack-writing From "Girlfriends" to "Family Matters." king of comedy 04-16-2013, 08:27 PM http://madamenoire.com/271986/black-sitcoms-that-went-south-was-it-ratings-or-wack-writing From "Girlfriends" to "Family Matters." I watched "Family Matters from beginning to the end. I've seen "Girlfriends" now and then. They forgot "Sister,Sister". TMC 04-17-2013, 03:11 AM Black sitcoms that I'm surprised weren't mentioned: *Moesha - Many think that the show jumped the shark when Frank (Moesha's dad) was revealed to be Dorian's (played by Ray J, Brandy Norwood's brother) biological father instead of his uncle. This is what caused Sheryl Lee Ralph to leave the show. *Martin - The jump the shark moment was more than likely when Tisha Campbell refused to work w/ Martin Lawrence anymore (which was problematic since they're characters were married at that point) due to him allegedly sexually harassing her. *The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - When the role of Aunt Viv was recast. *The Cosby Show - When Olivia was added. *Good Times - When James got killed off after John Amos was fired. *The Jeffersons - When Lionel was recast. *Roc - When it went to the live format in the second season. Neutronman67 04-17-2013, 08:26 AM Martin TV Series i doubt that martin lawrence was sexually harassing her i think it had something to do with him keep asking her out on a date and she refused to go out with him, i mean Tisha could have gave the man a chance before she ruin his life in the media i want to hear more about this topic but Martin and Tisha refuse to say anything about it themselves we need a E True Hollywood Story biography its about time the world find out what went on behind the sets of martin. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was still good and entertaining to watch after the dark skinned vivian with the bad mood swings was replaced with the new light skinned vivian she was more calm and nice it was a breath of fresh Air. Good Times was dead from seasons 4-6 without a angry man like james the show was dead The Cosby Show jumped the shark when teenage hormone girl rudy was replaced by olivia the annoying little girl who does not no anything she is talking about. Family Matters started to jump the shark with the new characters added to the sitcom the new rude harriet and the bad boy 3J https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgg4Rgg6P3c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEkoyNA8ZGM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMvE0v3A_o0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPz87AZ2p14 Mr. Drucker 04-18-2013, 09:43 AM I'd like to see programs that don't stereotype so much in this area, yet ones not so sappy as "The Cosby Show".I'd like to see more things like what HE did with "Cosby". irehtman 04-18-2013, 10:32 AM Even if there is a story in Fresh Prince, the show had a rushed ending. ThomasE 04-18-2013, 12:07 PM I think that list of shows if kind of inaccurate. I can't let someone's opinion of their pick of shows influence what I think failed or not. There were some errors with the commentary on shows such as Family Matters. The writer states that Steve and Laura got married. They never got married but were on the way to doing so but it was never confirmed. If you are going write then be accurate. The writer also states that ratings fell for some of these shows. Ratings might not have been the issue. Some of these shows were on UPN and in 2006, the show was doing a merger with WB and some shows were just flat out pulled. However, I do agree about "The Game". The show surrounding Melanie and Dewrin sounds better to me but they are no longer there. loaferman 04-18-2013, 02:24 PM Most all sitcoms that have a long run are going to go downhill no matter what or who they are about. Only a very few went out "on top". Neutronman67 04-18-2013, 05:37 PM Yeah if a sitcom show has been on the air for a few years or decades it starts to get stale people lose interest they dont tune in to watch further episodes the show lose ratings and then the show gets taken off the air at the last minute, years after the show has been canceled people that complain that the show should have stayed on longer where the same people who refuse to watch the show when it was in its original airings lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsaAMxavrhs Tubehead 04-19-2013, 02:55 AM I Thught hanging with mr cooper went down hill when mark askeed venesion to marry him TMC 04-19-2013, 04:55 AM I Thught hanging with mr cooper went down hill when mark askeed venesion to marry him Hangin' w/ Mr. Cooper also probably jumped the shark when they dumped Dawnn Lewis after the first season (when it was essentially, a black Three's Company, w/ the whole one guy living w/ two women angle) and brought in Raven-Symone (to help make the show more family friendly since it was moving to ABC's TGIF line-up). Ant-Lox 04-19-2013, 12:04 PM Didn't read, they said that Steve & Laura got married, I don't remember that. Neutronman67 04-20-2013, 08:48 AM No Steve and laura did not get married on Family Matters if their was a 10th season then they would have gotten married maybe laura was quick to change her mind at the last minute lol, they should have done a TV movie where we can atleast see a wedding of steve and laura getting married and go off to their honeymoon but no we the viewers get nothing lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVyezs67gdM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb13waZ0JdU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzmhUJCOQeI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etCNHdIAe34 |
