I did my taxes on Friday at a Tax Service, and I got a phone call from my Tax service today. I immediately knew something was wrong, as I was thinking, "There is no way my refund went in already in just one business day. My filer told m someone stole my information, already filed my taxes under my name, and got my refund money! I am f-cking pissed! How dare they f-cking steal my refund money that I need desperately? Thank God I have a cellphone, or I would not have known my refund was stolen until two weeks later, when I would have called my Tax Service to ask where my money was. Thank God my Tax Service was on the ball and quickly alerted me that my refund money had already been stolen. Luckily, I was able to sign a paper stating that it was not me who got the refund money....If I'm lucky, the IRS will refile my taxes and give me my refund money. Now, I have to pay the Tax service out of pocket 45.00 for my taxes(It was originally agreed that they would just take it out of my refund money) F-cking ass holes!

I am soooo sorry to hear about what happened to you Janice. I really hope you can get some resolve from this. I more so hope that they catch the low life scumbag that did it and put them in prison where they truly belong.

I am sorry to, Flying Dutchman. Thanks for your sympathy. I am upset that someone had the nerve to steal my money. If I were the IRS, I'd send everyone, "Thank you for your tax returns this year. We will be sending you your money shortly." People who did not file and had some crook file with their information against their knowledge like what happened to me would automatically think,"Hey! I didn't file yet! Someone has committed fraud in my name!" And automatically call the IRS to say they didn't file their taxes yet.

I'm sorry that you are having to deal with this. I hope you get your refund quickly and the loser that stole your identity is caught. :(

I'm sorry this happened to you Janice. Did they have you file the form 14039? If not, PM me and I will explain it to you. Also, remember that when someone files a false return in your name, you WILL get your refund that is owed to you. The money was stolen from the government not from you.

Also, just FYI, you should receive a PTIN around November 2013 so that you can file your taxes next year hopefully with no problem.

As great of an idea about sending out the message, hey would only send it to whoever filed, so if they used another email address than you did or another address then you did, that would go to them and not you. The IRS does have things in place to try to stop the ID Theft, but it does not always work because the crooks are getting smarter.

Thanks for the advice AGS. I have heard rumors that it will take 8 months before I see my 1,000 dollars. :(

Yes it can take that long. That department is just so swamped with so many cases. I know it's no consolation, but you will get interest with your refund.
