Melissa Sagemiller and Kelly Blatz Join NBC’s "Chicago Fire" Spinoff

Melissa Sagemiller has been tapped for what is considered the leading new addition in the proposed "Chicago Fire" spinoff, from Wolf Films and Universal TV.

Sagemiller will appear in the "Chicago Fire" freshman season finale, which serves as planted spinoff for a potential new drama series, a cop drama about the Chicago Police Department.

Sagemiller will play Detective Willhite, a member of the Chicago PD Intelligence Unit.





Kelly Blatz has also joined the proposed spinoff as the young but seasoned Officer Elam.

It is still unclear which "Chicago Fire" actors, if any, would transfer to the spinoff series., Jon Seda, who has been recurring as Chicago PD Detective Antonio Dawson, is considered a strong possibility.

There’s a shake-up underway at "Chicago PD". NBC’s "Chicago Fire" spin-off has parted ways with leading lady Melissa Sagemiller, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Additionally, Jesse Lee Soffer — last seen on Fox’s short-lived "The Mob Doctor" — in in talks to join the cast as a series regular.



Sagemiller’s character, CPD Detective Willhite, first appeared in "Chicago Fire‘s" penultimate Season 1 episode (aka Chicago PD‘s pilot).

Soffer’s new character, meanwhile, is still being sketched out.
