Yes, as a matter of fact one has, All in the family spawned the Jeffersons, which spawned the extremely short lived spinoff where the maid character had the job in the hotel...and All in the family spawned Maud which spawned..if I'm not mistaken Good Times, as Florida was Maude's Maid..am I right?

Here's one:
The Golden Girls spawned Empty Nest which spawned
Nurses.

Here's another:
The Danny Thomas Show (aka Make Room For Daddy) spawned The Andy Griffith Show which spawned two spin-offs: Mayberry R.F.D. and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.

"Love American Style" spawned "Happy Days", which spawned "Laverne & Shirley", "Joanie Loves Chachi" & "Mork & Mindy" (the latter which also spawned a short lived series called "Out Of The Blue")

Wasn't "The Jeffersons" spinoff "227"? (even though it was on another network)

I'm not sure, I thought it was, but when I think about it more, that was the woman who played the maid...(why can't I remember her name? I used to love her character) and the man I believe from both the movie and the series Private Benjamin playing her husband as the superintendants of an apartment building, the one I'm thinking about is where she worked at the hotel with possibly Martin Mull as her boss.

Nope. Marla Gibbs was in both series but she played two different characters (Florence Johnston on The Jeffersons and Mary Jenkins on 227). Checking In is the name of the short lived spinoff of The Jeffersons in which Marla Gibbs starred in.

Mork appeared on the first episode of Out of the Blue, the Out of the Blue character (Random) did not appear on Mork & Mindy.

Love, American, Style didn't spin-off Happy Days. One of the show's episodes was used as a pilot for Happy Days in which not all of the Happy Days cast appeared in. Many people get confused whether or not Happy Days is a spin-off. It doesn't seem like a spin-off at all.

Yes, I stand corrected on "Out Of The Blue". My bad.

And the "Happy Days" pilot was used as a "Love American Style" episode, although it was not originally intended for that show.

PS - while it's true that the "Love American Style" episode did not include the entire "Happy Days" cast (only Ron Howard & Anson Williams, if I recall), it WAS the pilot episode. Pilots often DON'T have the final cast in place yet. The networks will watch a pilot & then do some tinkering before the series goes into production.

Perfect example: "Star Trek". William Shatner & others weren't in the pilot at all! The only cast members that graduated from the pilot to the actual series were Leonard Nimoy & Majel Barrett (the latter as a different character). The captain in the pilot was named Christopher Pike (and portions of the pilot were spliced into an episode called "The Managerie")

Another example would be "Cagney & Lacey". It was Loretta Swit instead of Sharon Gless in the movie/pilot.

That's what I hate about Spin-Offs, Happy Days is still counted as a spinoff of Love,American style even though Ron Howards character only appeared in Love,American style once. a spin-off should be using main characters example:Golden Girls-Golden Palace.

Out of the blue is not however counted as a spin off, just because Mork was in it once. For instance, caroline from caroline in the city appeared in friends as did Chandler in caroline in the city in the same episode, the same thing happened all at once for Grace Under Fire,Ellen,The Drew carey show and Coach.

Living Dolls and Charmed Lives shouldnt be counted as who's the Boss spin-offs. Top of The Heap should'nt be a Married...With Children spin Off, Al Bundy barely appeared in that whole pilot episode used in married with children. Another Thing- Nurses Shouldn't be counted as a spin off to the golden girls.

So we need to find a name for these type of shows like- Shows that were inspired by...

Thank u
