View Full Version : Me-TV May Schedule

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the new schedule MEtv has up on their site starting May 2013.

The board won't let me post a URL but put May 6, 2013 on MEtv's schedule page and it shows up.

Looks like an hour of Leave It To Beaver replaces Daniel Boone. Then Dragnet and Adam 12 replace The Wild Wild West.

Nothing up for the weekend schedule yet.

MeTV doesn't have much that I like anymore. I'm actually glad Dragnet and Adam 12 are leaving Antenna TV and coming to MeTV since I watch Antenna TV a whole lot more. But I wish Antenna TV still had Leave it to Beaver because I liked watching that show. It probably won't be on at a very good time for me on MeTV. I'm just anxious to see the new Antenna TV schedule even more. I hope they will put Benson on at a better time and show more of it.

Green Acres is on their sister station This TV is you get that. The only problem is its on so early in the morning at 5AM Eastern/4 Central. Occasionally the morning movie won't start until a little later and it might be shown as filler at 10 Eastern/9 Central. I sometimes watch it then.

Thats good that if there bring back MWC if this is true for Antenna TV. As far as ME-TV goes, I think there late afternoon lineup needs some help. The Partridge Family? Adam-12? Ugh. I wish they would change that lineup.

I was skeptical at first but I love there Sunday Showcase. Hopefully they keep that around. I wonder if ME-TV ever tried to get the rights to those shows. The Millionaire, Little Rascals etc.?

I asked METV about several shows a few years ago and they e-mailed me back that the shows I was inquiring about were not available in syndication. A short time later Antenna TV came on line with Hazel, which was one of the shows I was asking about. "Not available in syndicaton" may be a stock answer.

Me-TV has been showing Green Hornet on Saturday mornings and Batman on Saturday evenings.

As far as My Favorite Martian, they showed the series on weekdays and weekends for a long time -- it will probably return in the future, but it was becoming repetitious. Same for Courtship of Eddie's Father -- both of these series only ran a few seasons originally. I'm a fan of both of those, and Me did a good job with them while they had 'em.

The next Sunday Showcase has been announced -- it will be "Mod" episodes of various series, including a Mod Squad ep. (Today was The Untouchables marathon.)

Been wanting Nashville to get ME-TV, now they announce WDJE will carry it. I had never heard of it. It's so low powered I can't pick it up. I'm disappointed ME-TV would have a low powered station like that as their affiliate in a market like Nashville. The signal barely covers the metro area. I can't understand why a better station didn't jump at the chance to carry ME-TV. :(

I think its BS that you can't just go to a store and buy a stand alone DVR like you used to could buy a VCR. That's so wrong. what's a Betamax?

When home recording first became affordable/widespread, the Sony Betamax was one of the early videocassette recorders. Beta tapes were actually a little smaller than VHS tapes. (Back then, it was anyone's guess as to whether VHS or Beta would be the lasting recording format. Beta gradually disappeared.)

Mr. Drucker
04-22-2013, 09:16 AM
Yeah in those early home video days,it was common frustration to find one of one's favorite movies was only available that way.Now it's up in entertainment format heaven along with the original Atari video game set and eight track tapes.Or in the case of betamax, would that be hell?

You can in fact buy a standalone DVR. Magnavox makes a few models of hard drive/DVD-recorder combos that have an ATSC tuner and allow you to record over-the-air signals in addition to unencrypted local channels from cable. I have an MDR515H and recommend these units to anybody with only an antenna or looking to cut out their DVR service. There is also the Brite-View BV-980H which a standalone DVR considerably cheaper than the Maggies but lacks the ability to record to DVD as well. None of these are as slick as the DVR service you'd get with the cableco. or Tivo but it's really the only option you have with an antenna. Can't really get these in brick and mortar stores but there is always online retailers (and ebay). Check out AVS Forum for a ton of information on this stuff.

There are literally untold mountains of VCRs sitting in Goodwills and Salvation Armys for like $5. If you are really hellbent on taping shows then I suggest go to a thrift store. The problem is the tapes are soooooooo expensive now that they are out of production (my local Best Buy still has a 4 pack of Sony blank VHS for $30!!!!). Also, no VCR will have a digital tuner so you'd need a separate cable box or converter box for a video source. Taping shows the old fashioned way can still be done, but it's very impractical. For the same $30 for 4 VHS blanks, you can buy a 100 pack of blank DVD-Rs.

My Me-TV affiliate doesn't air all of the shows. They air the shows that air over night and about 5 hours during the day. Unfortunately the timeslots that I get have been the same for about 2 years now. Gunsmoke and Big Valley seem to have been on there forever and I like like those shows but it would be nice to see something new.

biffbronson
04-23-2013, 07:15 PM
I agree -- they've cycled through the color seasons of Gunsmoke several times now, and Big Valley had a relatively small number of episodes so it's more pronounced in that case. Both very good, but time to give 'em a break.

Lots of series go off of Me and eventually return. Petticoat Junction is a good example.

Meh, the dollar store may have some blanks but I recall dollar store VHS blanks as being terribly crappy. Then again, you're looking to record onto VHS in 2013 so you're probably not too concerned about video quality...? I also see blank tapes still sealed at thrift stores all the time and they're usually better, older tapes.

But I'd really suggest dropping the 200 or 300 bucks for a Magnavox DVR/DVD recorder combo. It's lets you dump DVR recordings from your antenna onto DVD so you can have a hard copy. It's a great device and functions pretty similar to a VCR.

Me-TV aired a really easy "Guess the Connection" for the most recent Sunday Showcase. All of the episodes from different series featured a guest actor who appeared as a villain on the 1966 Batman TV series (Victor Buono, Cesar Romero, Carolyn Jones, Burgess Meredith...). My chances of winning a t-shirt are close to zero -- they're only drawing 100 names for winners (I think it's 99 shirts and one grand prize). What a crock -- I mean either make it a tougher competition, or be ready with more prizes...:(

Yeah I entered that too. In all fairness it wasn't that easy of a guess. It may have been pretty on-the-nose for us but it required the viewer to be fairly knowledgeable about Batman (really, I can't imagine the average viewer knowing Cliff Robertson or Carolyn Jones played some pretty obscure villans in the Batman universe). I prefer these kinds of engaging contests instead of simple entries that require nothing of participants.
