CBS TV Distribution‘s long-running syndicated court show "Judge Joe Brown" will end its 15-year run at the end of this season.
“Judge Joe Brown will not be returning for another season. We would like to thank Joe for 15 great years, as well as executive producer John Terenzio and the entire staff for all their hard work and dedication to the show,” a CBSTVD spokesperson said.
The decision comes following a recent report of a contract renegotiation dispute between CBSTVD and Brown. The departure will free up a half-hour on the stations that carry the court show, including the Fox stations.

icecream 03-26-2013, 11:57 PM On my CBS affiliate Judge Judy will have a new lead-in for the first time. The pair aired for over a decade in the 4PM hour. They moved to 3PM a few years ago when Dr. Oz was promoted. The secondary run of Judge Judy has aired at 1:37AM, I wonder if Judy will get the whole 3PM hour with Joe gone.
catlover79 03-27-2013, 12:46 AM My mom will be disappointed - she's always liked to watch Judge Joe Brown. Here in Cleveland, Judge Judy has always been on for an hour (two half-hour episodes back to back). It airs from 4 to 5 PM on our Fox affiliate before the 5 PM news. JJB also airs on our Fox affiliate from 11 to noon.
ThomasE 03-27-2013, 01:22 AM Same here, Monika. Here in NYC, it airs at 4pm and 4:30pm E/T on a local CBS affiliate. When I was living in Florida, it was on (and still is) on at 4pm and 4:30pm E/T on a FOX affiliate.
simmytbone 03-27-2013, 06:25 PM I LOVE Judge Joe Brown, but I'm sad that the show has to end, but I can understand why
I guess Joe wants to do other projects or move on
If that's the case, then I can't say as I blame him
Thank You Judge Joe Brown for 15 years, God Bless and I wish you well
I would LOVE to see the show in reruns on TV One, Centric or BOUNCE TV
JamesG 04-09-2013, 12:35 PM Judge Joe Brown Slams CBS for "Hollywood Trick Economics" (Exclusive)
4/9/2013

Judge Joe Brown hasn't delivered his final ruling just yet.
In the wake of a four-year renewal of America’s No. 1 court show, "Judge Judy", announced Monday, the host of "Judge Joe Brown" is making it clear that he will not take his gavel and disappear now that his show has been canceled because of what he charges was "Hollywood trick economics."
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brown says he has formed a new company and he intends to launch both a new court show and a talk show that he will host as early as fall 2014. He’s also launching a daily radio program and says he is developing numerous other shows.
CBS Television Distribution produces and distributes both "Judge Judy" and "Judge Joe Brown", which ranks as No. 2 in the ratings out of more than a dozen legal and court programs.
"Judge Joe Brown" comes to an end in May after 15 seasons because Brown could not reach an agreement with CBS on a new contract. There were widespread reports that the deal could not be concluded because of a “salary disagreement,” with CBS seeking to cut Brown’s compensation because ratings are down for his show.
But Brown says that there was no salary disagreement because he has not gotten a salary for the last seven years. He says that his deal was for a split of revenues with CBS. The problem, he says, came in defining how the money is to be split and how much in fees the distributor would get.
“Hollywood trick economics and accounting will show something a little less,” charges Brown, “because they take a great deal out of it.”
Brown says some of the money his show made was plowed into the development of other CBS shows — including a court show with Nancy Grace — most of which, he says, “flopped.”
“The truth of the matter is they didn’t offer me a reduction in salary,” Brown tells THR. “They actually were offering me improved terms of a 50-50 split with them. The issue basically was the adjustments to gross income.”
By that, Brown means how CBS accounts for the revenue and the fees it takes to cover its costs, distribution and other fees.
Brown says his current show grosses about $100 million a year. CBS declines to comment but a syndication source says that $100 million figure seems high.
When Brown signed his last contract in 2010, he says he believed it meant he would be entitled to about $20 million a year. He says he has never received more than about $5 million a year.
“After I signed my contract with them for three years,” says Brown, “the week it was to go into effect they changed the categories and definitions. If you do it the way it was supposed to be done, you get awfully close to $20 million. When you change the categories and definitions, you come out with about $5 million.”
Adding insult to injury, Brown says, at the same time CBS Inc. was reporting record results for the company and for the division that includes its distribution arm, company executives were “telling everyone from camera crews to talent … that money was tight and everybody would have to take a cut and bite the bullet.”
In his negotiations, Brown recalls, “I looked at them and said, 'You’ve got to be kidding. You’re telling me you’re broke, and you want me to take an IOU for what you owe me already. I think you guys have lost it.'”
Brown has other complaints. He says CTD put "Judge Judy" on top stations and combined multiple airings to come up with its ratings (a common practice).
His show, he says, is mostly on lesser stations, gets only a handful of extra runs each day and has not received as much promotion as he believes was required.

Hawkee 03-11-2016, 02:30 AM Judge Joe Brown was one of the favorite court shows of my mother and me and when our CBS station aired it Judge Joe Brown used to air back to back with Judge Judy and we would refer to it as our court show hour and Judge Joe Brown was cool but also very funny with his attitude and it's a shame that Judge Joe Brown ended because it was so exciting to watch. What's Judge Joe Brown doing now that the show's ended? I would like to see him host another court show very soon,

simmytbone 08-01-2016, 02:39 AM Well just so ya know,
Judge Joe Brown was from Big Ticket Television Producers of Moesha, The Parkers and Judge Judy
When he 1st arrived on syndication, he had his helpers Bailiff Miss Holly Evans and Reporter Jacque Kessler along with Announcer Ben Patrick Johnson
The show was clicking and along with Judge Judy, they were the Top 2 Court Shows on syndication
However, the show Jumped the Shark if you will when Ben Patrick Johnson was replaced by Former Talk Show Host Rolonda Watts in 2006 and then, Holly Evans left the show and was replaced by Retired Deputy Sheriff Madam Sonia Montejano and I never had a problem with her, in fact, I talk to her on fb and she is very nice and polite
But then, replacing Jacque Kessler with Sports Anchor Jeanne Zelasko was the last straw and ratings started to decline
and now, Madam Sonia is now the Bailiff on Judge Judy's Hot Bench, Rolonda Watts is now the voice of Divorce Court w/Judge Lynn Toler and Jeanne Zelasko is now on MLB Network
and as for Judge Joe Brown, he's coming back this fall with a NEW Court Show called True Verdict with Judge Joe Brown
Here's the Video Clip

Hawkee 08-02-2016, 01:43 AM Thank you very much for the info on Judge Joe Brown. True Verdict With Judge Joe Brown sounds really cool and my mother and I will check it out when it debuts this fall. I knew all about Rolanda Watts because I read an interview with her in my old copy of Girls Life Magazine when she was doing her talk show in 1994 and didn't know she was the announcer for Judge Joe Brown. It's nice to know that Judge Joe Brown is still awesome and I hope this new court show does successful for him

MRPITT 08-02-2016, 10:40 AM Seeing how he had is license suspended in TN after being deemed unfit to practice because of being unable to control himself do to "Medication". I would expect him to be unstable during his new show. Which will probably make for some good viewing.
