He didn't like Samantha doing magic, but when something went wrong he wanted Samantha's help.

Little spells annoy him, for example if Samantha burnt the toast it angered him. Wait Darrin no one is going to see that?
Sure he wants to do things the normal way but wow toast who cares?

Remember when the house got vapour locked? everyone was trapped inside the house. Its because she didn't do enough magic.


Remember when Aunt Clara conjured up the newspaper, Darrin wanted Samantha use magic to help stop Larry from breaking his leg by going to where Larry and Louise were. Some may call that the nerve.

I believe that's called situational ethics! Normally he was ethically opposed to Sam using magic. But when he was in a tight spot suddenly it seemed okay!

Darrin was a nice person but he seemed to have wanted it both ways. (dislike-need)
