Hallmark Channel has announced that the network has acquired the rights to the popular 1990s sitcom, Home Improvement from Disney-ABC Domestic Television. The off-network comedy series will drive the network's sitcom block with all 203 episodes from the series (seasons one through eight) joining the schedule in September 2013. The classic family comedy joins reruns of Emmy nominated drama, The Good Wife, which begins airing in January 2014, and reruns of award-winning comedy, The Middle, airing March 2014, as the network accelerates its strategy to assemble a "dream team" of programs comprised of acquired hits and original scripted fare.

Currently, Home Improvement airs on both TV Land and TBS. However, TV Land's rights to the series is expiring at the end of August and it looks like Hallmark will be picking their rights up. TV Land is airing the sitcom in the 5am hour right now. TBS will also be losing the rights to the series. Right now they only air the sitcom on Sunday mornings at 7am and after April 28 it is missing from the schedule completely (replaced by an extra Friends rerun). Both Nick at Nite/TV Land and TBS signed a six-year deal for the sitcom back in 2007 (announced in 2004) and that is expiring at the end of this August, 2013. It'll be interesting to see if Hallmark Channel will have exclusive rights or if another network will also pick it up to share with Hallmark. Or maybe either TV Land or TBS will renew it, but that seems unlikely, especially TBS. We'll certainly keep you in the loop.

It's great to see Home Improvement on the Hallmark Channel. If another channel airs Home Improvement along with Hallmark I hope it will be ABC Family.

Another great channel for Home Improvement is Lifetime.

I hope TBS or TV Land will renew Home Improvement for Fall 2013.

If TBS renews Home Improvement they should put it on the Weekday & Saturday schedule.

If TV Land/Nick at Nite renew Home Improvement they should put it in a decent timeslot for ex: 9:00PM & 9:30PM on TV Land or put it back on Nick at Nite.

If Home Improvement goes missing from TBS in May they can put it back on Nick at Nite along with TV Land.

Since TV Land is airing Home Improvement until the end of August this will give TV Land plenty of time to renew Home Improvement so it can continue to air on Nick at Nite/TV Land along with The Hallmark Channel.

It seems like TV Land will renew Home Improvement because they put in the 7:00PM-7:30PM timeslot weeknights starting Mon. May 20.

I hope they keep it that way in a decent timeslot like the 7PM hour!!!

I would like to see "Home Improvement" air on at least 2 channels this fall for ex: ABC Family & The Hallmark Channel!!!

I love HI, but I have to admit I can't imagine it on the Hallmark Channel, because it has the chick flicks and more female oriented programming. Then again, a lot of wives can relate to Jill, so hey. :lol:

I hope Home Improvement will air the Halloween,Thanksgiving, and Christmas episodes for the holiday season on the Hallmark channel!

Is Hallmark Channel not going to air the show anymore? I don't see it on the schedule after this week. Next week the talk show BETTER TV is on.

I hope they will fix the Hallmark Channel schedule by removing 2 hours of The Waltons and replacing it with Home Improvement. I hope another network or the local channels will also air Home Improvement.

Home improvement is back the schedule this week from 2 to 4 pm

Home Improvement is now airing weekdays 1PM-4PM The Hallmark Channel and in November/December it will be airing weekdays 1PM-2PM due to Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas 2013".

I hope they will bring Home Improvement and The Better Show back on the Hallmark Channel as soon as possible.
