When the episode "Push Comes to Shove" (with the new apartment landlord) aired the other day, I was trying to figure out how much Mr. Drummond's apartment cost. In the episode, Mr. Drummond said that the new lease would cost him about $28,000/year. Divided by 12 months, that would be about $2333.33/month. The apartment owner said that Mr. Drummond's apartment was worth three times the amount of the original lease. If you think about it, the $2333.33/month would be 2/3 the cost of the new lease. The remaining third is the original lease amount, which would be half of $2333.33. So the original cost of Mr. Drummond's lease would be about $1166.66/month. Since Mr. Drummond said he was living in the apartment 18 years as of when that episode aired (1982), then Mr. Drummond's apartment was worth approximately $1166.67/month in 1964, and around $3500/month in 1982.
Is this information important? Probably not. But I thought it was interesting to figure out.

With me living here in New York, I like to figure out things like that. It is intriguing.
