I have most of the episodes on tape from when I watched the show years ago, and I have the one where Mel's mom is introduced to Belle, but the first appearance I have of her when Jolene is there they already know eachother, I'm wondering if she made an appearance before that I don't have.

If so I'm wondering if Belle was mentioned in it as for her departure and all.

I believe Mel's mother was first introduced sometime during the 3rd season.

You aren't the only one. I found Martha Raye's mugging insufferable. Hated it when she did her "sexy" mouth thing, where she made her lips quiver--it made my stomach quiver instead! Also hated the way she was always berating Mel--it got old very fast. But I guess the producers thougt it was a coup getting her to do the show.

I think it is season 6 when Carrie wants to publish the chili recipe in a cookbook that Jolene meets Carrie.

I want to say there was not a formal meeting but Jolene is informed of who that is or maybe she asks Carrie, who are you.
