Everyone has their own feeling on what is acceptable as a form of greeting/farewell between their friends based on their upbringing, personal space issues, differences between genders/sexuality, etc...

The way that I personally view it is that the lips are a highly intimate and personal part of the body and I feel honored if I am offered someone's lips. I would never go to kiss on the lips myself, but if I am offered them then I would do it. I'm talking about a small peck on the lips and not a long, passionate thing.

This is for non-lovers and non-relatives. I was just curious to hear on what other people do. Some people I know are even awkward about cheek-kissing and light hugs between friends.

I handle the situation exactly like you do, and view it the same way.

Nope - I don't kiss them anywhere. Hugs, yes.

OH Nuts!

Hugs absolutely. Or maybe a kiss on the forehead or cheek. But not the lips.

I don't like kissing on the lips except for my hubby. I too think that lips are entirely too intimate for just anyone. My kids , who are adults, sometimes kiss me on the lips but I would rather have a nice hug and a peck on the cheek. It makes me extremely uncomfortable when someone tries to kiss me on the lips. Maybe it's because I have never been a demonstrative person. When my kids were little I was smooching them all of the time! That I do like! :)

Nope, just my wife. Everyone else it's hugs and wet sloppy kisses on the cheek.

Only my female friends; and the kiss on the lips never lasts for more than 5 full seconds. (Unless we are on the Friends with Benefits plan.)

^ That's funny, cleverfun.

I feel the same as everyone. I only kiss my husband on the lips. Everyone else, it's on the cheek.

I tried to get my girlfriend to kiss me one time years ago but she said she wasnt ready.... I said the feeling will be insane, you will feel so happy..... She said "I already am happy" -- I didnt press it.......

Those who really love someone will not force someone to do something they dont want to......

Wonderful thread Jimmy!!

Friends, on the Lips, NO. If my daughter and grands kissed me on lips I'd be OK there.

Yes when a husband and bf's were in my life.
