Does anybody think Steve should have made it to the NBA as a basketball player instead of continuing his life as a scientist he plays basketball really good in some of the episodes, none of his science inventions never worked out how he planned it to they always ended up putting the winslow family in great danger.

Some of his inventions actually did work, you know. And even if he no longer invented stuff, he could still be a scientist. Or maybe a writer, because he was good at that too. But as for your question about basketball, Steve never considered it as a career path for him. Eddy did though in one episode, and something interesting was said there by a guy, who Harriette brought to the house just to make Eddy and Carl change their minds. Even if you become a pro athlete, and you don't become injured, such a career won't last your whole life. Many former athletes keep on working within sports some way or another. But it can be good to have another option to fall back on.

I never understood why steve went from being cool after he won the basketball team for eddie in the episode from season 3 to being a nerd who is ignored by his peers in the next episode, i would like to think the entire school would treat him with more respect heck maybe even laura would think he is a jock and ask him out on a date he was pretty darn good at playing basketball for a nerdy kid lol
