My father is suffering from swollen hands, we think it's some form of arthritis or gout since nothing can relieve the pain. He can't even take his jacket off.

Sounds like rheumatoid arthritis. I knew a man whose hands were almost incapable of picking up a fork. His hands were very swollen and his elbows were huge knobs. He was on social security and medicare but the insurance would not pay for a $900.00(!:eek: ) injection which could have really eased his pain. He certainly couldn't afford the shot! He suffered greatly. I sure hope that your dad can get treatment.
