I didn't want to use the word that rhymes with witch, but I'm planning on making a top-16 list about female jerks on sitcoms.

Characters like Eldona or Mimi Bobeck.

Bewitched's Darrin Stephens would definitely nominate his mother-in-law, Endora.

Marie and Debra Barone of Everybody Loves Raymond could definitely be insufferable.

Berta - Two & A Half Men - I simply HATE her!!!

Jennifer Coolidge - Two Broke Girls - See above. I change the channel the exact millisecond she comes on.

Miss Kraus - Benson - One that I remember very clearly and not so fondly.

Sue Ann Nivens - Mary Tyler Moore Show - Served as a model for Blanche on The Golden Girls, the role that Betty White was originally supposed to play.

Florence the maid - The Jeffersons - How did George put up with her for 9 years?

Judy Hensler - Leave It To Beaver - An oldie but baddie. The one with the pigtails, big mouth, and sour expression who was always telling on Beaver in class.

Serena - Bewitched - Endora gets most of the notoriety but Serena had her ornery moments as well.

Meg Griffin is the only likeable character on that show. Claire acts like she is Miss Perfect, always thinking she is always right, mean to her kids and husband and she was so annoying. I hated her and I refuse to see the Cosby Show ever again.

I'm nominating Nellie Ruth "Nell" Harper from "Gimme a Break".

When you rub her the wrong way...she'll get mad...especially with Addie Wilson, but she does make it up half the time by supporting Chief's family.

I don't know if that quite qualifies her for being a jerk- but it does qualify her for being a spoiled kid- which the show addresses in the episode "Crime and Michelle's Demeanor" wherein Danny realizes that he has been letting Michelle get away with anything- and she knows it because she thinks of herself as his little princess- and then Danny has to lay down the law. She gets her share of punishments in the series as well as DJ and Stephanie. I know some people get annoyed with her character on "Full House" for this reason- but seeing as how I love "Full House"- I don't have a problem with her.

It's been a while since I've seen "Gimme A Break!", but I don't know if I see this one with Nellie Ruth "Nell" Harper. She can definitely get mad at times, particularly when provoked (but who doesn't?)- but yeah, I think she does make it up for it with her support of Chief's family. And seeing as how she basically becomes the Mom for the family (and the sole parent after actor Dolph Sweet died and subsequently, his character died.)

I can kinda get what you're saying, particularly about monitoring Cliff's eating habits, but I think it was (hopefully) primarily out of love and concern and not just to be a killjoy. I wouldn't call her a witch or stuck-up though. I enjoy "The Cosby Show" and used to watch it a fairly good bit as a kid- I still catch episodes of it here and there and love it!
I don't have an issue with Claire.

Of course, I think it's a bit unfair to label everyone on this list as a jerk like that's the defining characteristic of their character. Perhaps they act this way at times, but it doesn't mean they don't also shine at other moments. And besides, it wouldn't make for a very interesting (or realistic) show if there weren't some character flaws here and there.

Detective Olivia Benson from Law and Order SVU: Ignorant, self rightgous and always breaking the law to prove she is right. She should have been fired.
Sam from ICarly: The most obnoxious tomboy ever. I would have loved to punch her out.
Carly from ICarly: What the heck. Spoiled brat.
Claire always thought she was perfect even when she is wrong. She deserves to be called a witch.

Well, for "Saved By the Bell"- not that it's right for Lisa to be rude, but Screech was a constant annoyance for her. She had made it clear numerous times that she was not interested in him but he kept hounding her. And she was not always a jerk to Screech any more than he was always a jerk to her. There were a number of times when Screech came to Lisa's rescue ("Dancing to the Max" episode comes to mind) and there were times when Lisa did act friendly to Screech (she even kissed him in the "Graduation" episode).

Neutronman67

The only reason she kissed screech in the graduation episode was most likely because she thought she was never going see him again after high school she was like let me kiss this geekozoid out of pity lol

And because she appreciated his nice qualities, of which he did have some.
She also defended him to Jessie in that episode too.
And there are other examples where Lisa has been shown to be nice to Screech and concerned about his feelings (of course, that moment tends to be quickly lost because of his goofiness that tends to ruin the mood- lol)

I know I will be hated here, but I nominate Betty White in several roles. Her Happy Homemaker character on the MTM show was annoying, there was no need for a bitchy villian. Not to mention an old lady who was "horny". She also played a shrew in Mama's Family.

To me, she was the weak link on the Golden Girls, the other three were fantastic, Rose Nyland was one dimensional. This was to me her best character, but that is not saying much.

I watched "Off your rockers" or whatever it is called, but turned it off at the first skit because it was about an old nun trying to solicit sexual favors. Uh, no, ugh.

Betty, you are over 90. Walk into the light!
