View Full Version : Why no Season 6 Neutronman67 03-09-2013, 08:14 PM Why they have to cancel this show after season 5 couden't they just have fired Tisha and have Martin continue his show in season 6. TMC 11-05-2014, 04:54 PM My best guesses: *The show had simply run its course. *Fox was tired of having to deal w/ the negative publicity/stigma of Martin Lawrence's erratic behavior and Tisha Campbell's absences. *Fox was moving away from relying on urban/black-centered shows (i.e. Martin, Living Single, and New York Undercover). *Fox knew that a large part of the appeal of Martin was the past chemistry between Martin and Tisha. The episodes w/o Gina in them (and Pam got a more predominate role) just showed how important Tisha Campbell was too the show. Blackout 04-01-2015, 05:55 PM that's true but they did end it too quickly Evil Zebra 04-01-2015, 06:02 PM or.... The first 5 season stunk, so why bother!!! http://file.inexplores.com/2015/03/fool2.gif Blackout 05-19-2015, 01:13 AM no, the show was great. I actually discussed the cancellation of "Martin" (as well as Martin Lawrence's erratic and irrational--and potentially dangerous--behavior during the mid- to late '90s) on a different thread a few weeks ago. TMC 05-10-2016, 04:23 PM hFH3dB1bLdQ DJM77 05-10-2016, 06:59 PM hFH3dB1bLdQ She said that Martin premiered in 1991. That's not right. It premiered in 1992. And did I miss something or did she never say why Martin was taken off the air? irehtman 07-18-2017, 09:59 AM Martin, Living Single, The Jamie Foxx Show and The Parkers are 5 seasoned-sitcoms each and they have their own reasons why none of them got a 6th season for some reason each. TMC 02-24-2022, 03:24 AM I agree with every one of your theories, TMC. I actually discussed the cancellation of "Martin" (as well as Martin Lawrence's erratic and irrational--and potentially dangerous--behavior during the mid- to late '90s) on a different thread a few weeks ago. After hearing about the news of the upcoming BET+ reunion, there comes the question (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/cast-of-martin-to-say-wazzup-wazzup-wazzuuuuuup-to-30th-anniversary-reunion.4814489/) about whether or not Tisha Campbell's claims that Martin Lawrence sexually assaulted and/or harassed her were either completely untrue or greatly exaggerated. For one thing, Tichina Arnold is one of her longest and closest friends in the business (they go back way before Martin was a thought) and her support for Martin Lawrence and his projects never waivered. So it's within reason to believe that she would not have done that if Martin had sexually assaulted or harassed Tisha. Tisha's husband, Duane Martin may have been jealous and manipulative pertaining to Martin and Gina's chemistry on the show. While Martin Lawrence very well could’ve made her feel uncomfortable in some way because he did have a period of strange and erratic behavior for a point back in the day, that isn't to say that Duane’s ego probably was threatened. |
