As most U.S. citizens are probably already aware, the USPS has recently announced that it is discontinuing Saturday mail service later in the year due to financial constraints. This certainly sucks as it will undoubetly take it longer to ship and receive things.
Also, the traditional delivery confirmation is gone, although it's replaced with something very similar: delivery tracking. The green slips are gone, and the tracking number is printed right on the receipt.

Only first class mail is being stopped, anything priority or express will still be delivered.

I think they have also dropped parcel post and media mail. I was in the post office this morning and a woman in front of me was trying to send a book to Germany. The cheapest rate was $24.00 and I thought I heard the postal employee say they have gotten rid of everything but first class, express and priority, at least for overseas shipments.
Last week I sent a set of discs from the U.S. to Canada. They didn't mention the service but it certainly wasn't priority or express. It seems like a package like that used to cost around $5 to send but this one was over $9.

Parcel post is still available but it's now called parcel select. Media mail is also still in use. I believe some changes have been done to international first class but I'm not certain as to what they are.

So did all the international services. $9.75 to send a DVD in a full case to europe!
Also, apparently Saturday delivery will also include first class parcel, parcel select and media mail.
