Before I go to bed ... what memories do you have of Family Affair ? It countes if you watched Family Affair during the 1960s, in reruns ten or fifteen years after the fact, or on DVD .

I watched during the show's original run....if memory serves me correctly, it was on Mondays at 9:00 pm.

The episode I remember best was a 3-parter - Lost in Spain. When that bus took off with kids looking out the back window......wow, that packed a wallop for me as an 11-year-old.

I loved the show. Although the family was unconventional for the time and definitely by my childhood standards, it worked beautifully. Though not without friction or issues, it was plain that the characters cared about each other. I loved Mr. French's British accent (like Davy Jones of the Monkees!);) I could not wait to be Cissy's age so I could have boyfriends and go shopping in glamorous NYC:) . I thought their apartment was really cool.

As an adult, the show brings back very nice memories. It had a gentleness that is heart-warming.

I was real young when FA first aired. I was 6 when it went off the air. I don't remember it in prime-time but I do remember watching it in syndication through most of the 70's. It was part of my childhood and I remember playing with my toys with FA on tv. Uncle Bill was the perfect father figure and I loved Mr. French. I knew that he was the narrator of the Winnie the Pooh tv specials and I thought that was great. I even had records of Winnie the Pooh. lol Jodie and Buffy were just great kids that all kids could relate too. I was so sad when I heard that Anissa died. I know I was still watching reruns at that time. Then the show just vanished from the air. I didn't see the show again until briefly on FX in the 90's and recently on Me-TV. It's too bad that the show isn't seen that much anymore. It is a classic.

I know I couldn't watch all the shows until the summer because my bedtime was 8:30 and then 9:00. I'd sometimes hear about the show from somebody in school the next day. I use to always like the theme song. I was too young to realize how they filmed the show and I use to think, how can those kids sat up past 9:30? Don't they have to do to bed? HA HA. My younger brother had hair like Jodies and some people thought he looked like him. One of my sisters boyfriends thought he really was the kid (Jonny Whittaker)

I watch it now when it airs on MeTV and I'm always thinking how modern the apartment was, so 60's for sure, with the avocado greens and the yellows and oranges. It does evoke memories of growing up, not that I had a fancy life like the Davis' but just all the clothes, and styles.

The first few seasons, when Jody and Buffy were the youngest, they sure could make you feel for them, they could be so pitifully sad at times. I still enjoy watching the show after all these years. I follow Kathy Garver on FB and she still looks lovely and seems to be a lovely person.

It use to come on very morning at 7:00 on MeTV. Now it only comes on Sun. mornings at 7:00 with 2 episodes so I watch those. I hope they show them all.

I saw a couple of "Family Affair" episodes this morning on MeTV, and I always was fascinated by the cars Bill drove. This morning he was driving a green 1968 Pontiac Bonneville station wagon with woodgrain side paneling and a black vinyl roof...of course given the fact the cars were furnished by Pontiac may have had something to do with that! :lol:

Most people I knew back then made do with older Ford or Chevy station wagons!

I've always liked Family Affair which I remember on the network in the 1960's and also in re-runs. It has a Disney-like quality to it.

In the early 1970's when my daughter was only two or so, re-runs of the show were shown on a local station. When the opening-theme came on, she got excited and appeared to like the bright colors that swirled around in the opening as the theme played.

I watched it yesterday for the first time in ages, but I've always loved the beginning sequence. That's really what I remember most. And Mrs Beasley, of course!

I remember watching some episodes when they originally ran. In the third, fourth and fifth seasons it was seen Thursdays at 7:30 - so I got to see it just before bedtime! I also remember watching episodes when it was seen on the daytime schedule at 11 AM.

I remember the opening credits were different, quite frequently with an announcer. There's one early episode in the trade circuit where this is the case but no others that I know of. I'd love to see more become available.

Too bad the syndicated reruns had to strip all of this out.

I watched Family Affair when it was originally on too but I don't remember the opening credits being anything other than what we see on the DVDs today, that is with that kaleidoscope type scene with the titles and the announcer. That's the only way I've seen it. I used to have kaleidocopes back in the '60's as a kid, you'd look thru them and turn the front of it as you were looking in and the colors and chips or whatever they were would change places. Just like in the opening on Fam Aff.

For years the episode that I definitely could always remember because it was so completely different from any other sitcom I saw back then was the one in which Bill punches a guy out in the field. A real fight scene! I couldn't believe it as a kid. It would have been like seeing Ward punch Fred Rutherford, just not imaginable on any other series.
