Hello all,
I was thinking about an old Unsolved case today but I can't remember the kid's name so I can't research it. It involved a teenage boy who was found severely injured in the street and ended up dying. He was tall for his age and had broken up a fight involving a friend of his earlier in the evening. When he was found in the street he was calling his friend's name and a witness saw a kid standing across the street who ran away when he was spotted. I think the police determined that he had been hit by a car but there was evidence to suggest he had been beaten. Does anyone remember this kid's name or if there was ever an update?
Thanks!

Russell Evans. Sadly, there was never an update.

As wiseguy mentioned there is no update as of yet on this case. However, with some digging I was able to turn up last summer a significant cache of information on the case some of which developed years after the UM segment was filmed:
The thread where all of this is discussed can be found here:

Thanks, DarkDante! Interesting stuff. My personal two cents...I think Russell and his friends had a history with this "gang", so this wasn't their first run-in with each other. After the altercation, some members of the gang staked out Russell's house, waiting for him to come home so they could jump him. Russell probably ran into Brian after seeing Seyd. When Russell and Brian realized the gang was waiting for them, they took off running, the car hit Russell and the gang got out and beat him more before running over him again. Brian got away, probably hid in the woods for a while but came back later to see what happened, when he saw the ambulance, cops, etc. he freaked out and ran away. When he got home he called the hospital to see if Russell was ok but was too afraid of the gang to ever come forward with more info.

I'm surprised that other than Brian (likely), there were no other witnesses (in passing vehicles, walking by, etc.) during this entire violent confrontation that led to Russell's death until that lady that stopped her car right in front of him. The hit-and-run/fight had to have lasted at least a couple of minutes, if not longer. I know it was late at night, but this took place in the heart of a decent-sized/populated city (Spokane, Washington) and it was almost summertime.
Russell's friend interviewed in the UM segment (Aaron Abrahamson) acted like they didn't know who the guys were that confronted them at the park earlier that night: was he not being entirely truthful in that regard?
