Strippers at teen's party lead to mom's arrest

(CNN) -- An upstate New York mother is accused of hiring strippers for her son's 16th birthday party late last year, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney.

Judy Viger, 33, of Gansevoort is charged with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, District Attorney James Murphy said in a statement. The parents of five teens who attended the party reported the presence of strippers to police.

The complaining parents found out that the strippers had been at the November 3 bowling party through photos posted on Facebook. The parents took the pictures to the South Glens Falls police, who then started taking witness statements, the district attorney's statement says.

One of the photos distributed by the district attorney's office shows Viger receiving a lap dance from one of the hired dancers; another picture shows a young male with another nearly nude dancer on top of him with her legs around his head.

"As difficult as it may be for us to have to weigh in on these kinds of cases, certainly exposing the unsuspecting children to this sort of 'entertainment' goes beyond the pale when it comes to what is appropriate for 14, 15 and 16 year old child," Murphy said in the statement.

CNN affiliate WRGB visited the Viger home and encountered a man who said the family "was not making statements at this time."

CNN's calls to Viger, her attorney and the adult entertainment company that provided the dancers were not immediately returned.

Well, the age of consent in New York is 17, so the boy was a year too early for that.

Did anyone else do the math and realize that his mom would have been 17 when he was born? Perhaps she is trying to relive some of the youth that she lost.

That's scary - she's my age and has a 16-year-old. :eek: But, that's the way things go sometimes!!!

My parents had party for my younger brother when he was 21. She hired a belly dancer. My brother sat in the chair while she clicked those things on her fingers, and danced and shook herself, kind of in his face. He didn't care. Turns out my brother was gay, lol. We didn't know at the time. He said he had to put on an act for everyone, that the belly dancer turned him on.

I believe only a father is supposed to do something like that:lol:

A friend hiring a stripper for a friends birthday party is one thing (If they are of legal age then its no big thing).

I agree with TWO points that were in reponse to this thread. One; It was a full year TOO EARLY to unviel this sort of thing to the young man and TWO; thats a father's job to buy strippers or hookers for his legal age of concent son. My brother took his son to the Bunny Ranch and treated my 19 year old nephew to 3 different hookers (condoms, of course) during the weekend of his 19th birthday. Father's do this sort of thing as their attempt to be sure that their son is straight, not gay.

Well this is a fine way to welcome myself back! A topic I love arguing with anyone about - teenage age restrictions.

I personally am against them for several reasons, as follows:

1. Most prosecutors and judges today are more than willing to try a 15-16 year old kid as an adult for murder. OK, what in a prosecutor's mind makes him/her think that a "child" (BTW, teenagers are not "children" IMO) cannot have strippers at his 16th b-day party but would charge that same kid as an adult if he killed several of his friends??? Go figure!

2. I really wish these legislators would get off this "welfare of a child" bandwagon. Kids today watch stuff that is far more sex-oriented than a bunch of strippers - on commercial TV!! If you want your kids to act/think like 1950's sitcom characters, go move to the country. Or ask Doc Brown if you can borrow his DeLorean. (I would love to put all the parents who ratted on this party in that car and take them all on a one-way trip to 1955!)

There are other reasons, but those are the main ones.

However, I don't know of any fathers IRL who offered their sons hookers to see if they are gay/straight.

I agree kids as young as 1 are seeing things that kids in the past never did. But that doesn't mean you have to imitate them. Any one can do anything but do you have to advertise it?.
