I will try to fill in most words:

BLESS MY HAPPY HOME

We'll I've been all around the world,
And I've seen most everything,
Rich oil tycoons, big movie stars,
Sable boots and limousines,
Well, east is east and west is west,
But back home is where I like it best,
For tender loving care you can't get anywhere,
I say bless my happy home.

Well, vichyssoise and escargot,
Got nothing on black eyed peas,
You got your palm trees swaying by the white sand beach,
I'll take a swimming hole if you please,
Well, I gotta have a piece of Mama's apple pie,
I call her on the phone and she starts to cry,
Tell her chilly old room "I'm coming back to you",
I say bless my happy home.

Home...where lazy susan is a friend of mine....
Home... where a Saturday night (CAN'T MAKE OUT THESE WORDS)...

Well, you bought a lot of clothes down in Bevrely Hills,
That you didn't need anyway,
And on Riverside Drive (CAN'T MAKE OUT THESE WORDS),
And all your friends have gone away,

Take your vichy bag and your Calvin Klein's,
Your Alligator shoes and leave them all behind,
Your Mama first expressed to wear a lagged dress,
I say bless my, bless my happy...my happy home....
My happy home....
My happy....
Home where the fire's burning bright and everyone is waiting just for me.

Thanks, I've been wanting to see this for a long time :)

Had this been the theme song, would Thelma Harper had sung it? Would it had been in her perspective? Told from her point of view? Or from Vinton's?

I I remember correctly, wasn't Mama always at home? She never went out? What about Vinton? Didn't he move away and then come home?

I guess the song is mostly about their mid-western living.... To fit the longer theme song I think these would have been a good cut for the theme:

We'll I've been all around the world,
And I've seen most everything,
Rich oil tycoons, big movie stars,
Sable boots and limousines,
Well, east is east and west is west,
But back home is where I like it best,
For tender loving care you can't get anywhere,
I say bless my....bless my happy...my happy home,
My happy home....my happy...
Well, east is east and west is west,
But back home is where I like it best,
For tender loving care you can't get anywhere,
I say bless my...bless my happy...my happy home,
My happy home...my happy...
Home where the fire's burnig bright and everyone is waiting just for me.

The shorter version theme would be something like this:

We'll I've been all around the world,
And I've seen most everything,
Rich oil tycoons, big movie stars,
Sable boots and limousines,
Well, east is east and west is west,
But back home is where I like it best,
For tender loving care you can't get anywhere,
I say bless my....bless my happy...my happy home,
My happy home....my happy...
Home where the fire's burnig bright and everyone is waiting just for me.

Yeah from what I understood, Mama/Vicky was to sing the lyrics as the show opened. I think Vicky actually wrote the lyrics herself, but the powers-that-be didn't like them all that well, so they decided to just go with the musical version.

Well Mama did go to quite a few places, she went to Hollywood in the Family Sketch to visit Phillip, I'm wanting to think she talked about going other places when she was younger with Carl.

The song wouldn't have been sung by "Mama" it would have been sung by Vicki in the role of a child of Mama's (I used to think it would be Mama singing too but in the lyrics Vicki is singing about Mama). It sounds kind of like a homesick Phillip singing the lyrics.

Here are the correct lyrics:

"Bless My Happy Home"

We'll I've been all around the world
And I've seen most everything
Rich oil tycoons, big movie stars
Sable coats and limousines
Well, east is east and west is west,
But back home is where I like it best
For tender lovin' care ya can't get anywhere
I say "Bless my happy home".

Well vichyssoise and escargot
Ain't got nothin' on black eyed peas
Ya keep your palm trees swayin' on the white sand beach,
I'll take the swimmin' hole if you please
When I gotta have a piece of Mama's apple pie
I call her on the phone and she starts to cry,
Tell her "Chill me a brew, I'm comin' back to you",
I say "Bless my happy home".

Home, where lazy Susan is a friend of mine
Home, where a Saturday night'll cost ya 12.98 and that's includin' the wine

When ya bought a lot of clothes down in Beverly Hills
That ya didn't need anyway
And when Riverside Drive's lookin' lonely and cold
And all your friends have gone away,

Take your Gucci bag and your Calvin Kleins
Your Alligator shoes and leave 'em all behind,
I'm on the first express to where I like it best
I say "Bless my"...
"Bless my happy"...
"My happy home"...
"My happy home"...
"My happy home", where the fire's burnin' bright and everyone is waitin' just for me.

I used to not be able to make it all out either. But now thank you to whoever put up this video of Vicki singing the song which is a good clear recording:
