The two years I worked on the show were Gleason's first two years at CBS, after his move from Dumont.
I knew I read that somewhere. Well, that eliminates "Halloween Party for the Boss" and "Six Months to Live."

Another thing that stood out to me was that little swipe at The Three Stooges. I always found it interesting that the Howard brothers, like Gleason, were from Brooklyn (Bensonhurst, no less), yet I don't recall Gleason ever mentioning or making reference to them. There were references, even tributes, to other famous comedy teams, including Laurel & Hardy, The Marx Brothers, Abbott & Costello, even The Bowery Boys, but not the Stooges for some reason. The closest thing to a reference I can think of is Norton doing a bit in "One Big Happy Family" that was similar to one Curly had done decades earlier.

Here is a segment from a 1974 "To Tell The Truth" featuring Ken Whalen,
author of "How the Golden Age of Television Turned My Hair to Silver."

Great to see this & with some special guests from the golden age of TV.

Pert Kelton & Audrey Meadows are mentioned frequently.

Just a reminder, it is in this book that Ken speaks of Carney peeling the orange.
