Barbara Hall is heading to "Homeland", inking a two-year deal with studio Fox 21 to join the Emmy-winning Showtime drama as a co-executive producer.

Hall becomes the second addition to the "Homeland" writers' room for its third season. She joins "Treme's" James Yoshimura as the series fills as many as three open slots.

Showrunner Alex Gansa and his staff were said to be looking for at least one female voice to replace the series' lone woman writer Meredith Stiehm, who exited "Homeland" earlier this month when her FX drama "The Bridge" was ordered to series.

Both "Homeland" co-creator Howard Gordon and writer/EP Alex Cary’s roles will likely diminish in season three as the duo turns its focus to the CBS pilot "Anatomy of Violence", a drama centered on a criminal psychologist with an expertise in sociopaths who partners with a young female detective with whom he shares a conflicted past.

"Homeland" writer-producer Henry Bromell is said to have been instrumental in luring Hall to the show, just as he was with his former Homicide colleague Yoshimura.

The "Homeland" writers have been back in the writers room for several weeks, and are believed to have provided Showtime and 20th TV execs with a road map of where they're headed for the series' third season.
