View Full Version : Anyone think Jill was a boring character? Blackout 02-19-2013, 10:58 PM I always thought so compared to the others MrCleveland 02-19-2013, 11:09 PM I really don't think so.... tooltime1987 06-22-2013, 05:00 PM I don't think Jill Taylor was boring. RetroGuy2000 03-26-2014, 01:11 AM I think even Patricia Richardson felt Jill was a little boring for a while. From what I recall, there was a lot of backstage wrangling after the first season. Patricia insisted that the "Tool Time" segments be shortened because she believed they would take over the show. She was afraid the over-the-top antics on "Tool Time" would become the focus of the show. In retrospect, I think she was right. "Home Improvement" was a good balance of Tim's work and home life. Jill and the kids were given storylines that had meaning, in addition to the usual TT silliness. For example, Jill went back to college and worked on getting her degree in Psychology. It gave more depth to the story. I'm glad the Jill character was grounded. She was a good 'straight man' for Tim, and gave the show some much-needed depth. And "Home Improvement" never devolved into "The Tool Time Show". Spark Of Spirit 03-26-2014, 06:20 PM I think even Patricia Richardson felt Jill was a little boring for a while. RetroGuy2000 03-26-2014, 08:51 PM The show would have gotten old if it was only Tool Time all the time. So true. It's not that the "Tool Time" segments weren't funny; they were. But to focus mostly on them would have been a mistake. And having Tim come home each night to a grounded, normal wife helped round out the show, and give depth to a series that otherwise would have lacked it. JO Sweet Heart 07-27-2014, 11:59 PM I thought that she had some great lines during the show. :D :D :D God bless you always!!! :) :) :) Holly HauntedThunderman94 10-16-2016, 07:35 PM Couldn't stand Jill!!! She was self absorbed, arrogant, rude, selfish, and always horned in on everybody else's moment. |
