Here's a question. I did not know about the problem she was having during the show. I was shocked to here that she had a binge and purge problem. And anorexia. I am very much a fan of hers growing up and i often wondered why she looked that way.Kinda like she was sick or something. I know it was written for her to be half baked. And that was something that i wished that they did not write for her to be. But i wonder if she was in pain on the set. And did any one know and if so was she getting help. I feel bad for her. I always thought that she was a good actress. She is one of my favorite stars. She could be perfect for a role like Raiders of the lost ark. Or something like the tv show crossing jorden. But on the other hand i am happy to hear that she is a born again christian, that's the most exciting thing to hear about her. Wonderful!

I wonder what her health was like during her brief stint on the ill fated "Men Behaving Badly" series. I kind of remember her being a little bit bigger than she used to be.

I feel like such a $#!* for not seeing any of that show. I bet it wasn't the best show but i will be sure to catch it when i can.

I don't think she had the problem in that show anyway. It was said that she had the problem for ten years in the family ties days. also it was said in this website that she overcame the problem by becoming a born again christian. And im sure with the love of her family.

Justine Bateman is a born again Christian? Isn't she Jewish?

There are jews who are christian. "jews for Jesus" as they are called. Any way that's another subject.

As for the question my friend,i don't know for sure if she is.
It sure is possible.

Men Behaving Badly was a good show it would of lasted had Ron Eldard stayed on. Apparently he wanted to leave the show and the whole show was built around his character and Rob Schneiders.

Yeah Justine was anorexic, belemic, and a compulsive eater during Family ties. In 1993 she started this diet thing to help her, and became a born again Christian. I did not know she was jewish? I did not think justine looked sick on Family Ties just very skinny!! I feel really stupid for asking this but someone said she was anorexic and binge prudge. What is binge and prudge? (or however you spell it!!)

That condition is an eating disorder called bulemia. It's when a person eats vasts amount of food and then induces vomiting. It's a serious disease that can ruin your teeth and your stomach. I'm glad Justine worked through her problems. She seems very sweet.

Fixed a non-working UBBC tags for you. /Daniel

That's right, well she has beat that disorder. And she is doing great as her new fashion design company has really been growing. check it out.

I hope she becomes the greatest fashion designer in the world!

okay this might be a little bit off topic but I heard somewhere that Justine took speed during family ties. Is that true? I wouldn't think she was. Especailly after they did that episode where Alex took speed. But that was tv.

I had no idea she was anorexic/bulemic. I heard that about Tracy Gold from Growing Pains, but not Justine. It's great that she turned her life around.

It is no better for a Jewish Person like Justine Bateman to convert to Christianity than it is for a Christian-by-birth person to return to Christianity! Everyone is equal in God's eyes!

I wonder if tonights episode "give uncle arthur a kiss" is in any way "autobiographical"

In some interviews it has been said that some of the material came from the casts real life problems incarnated into the scrip.

I know that alot of MJF 's life was transferd into the last season.
Sometimes art copys life they say.

Other than the Aunt Trudy episode, this may be JB's best one.

Hello, Ficlopri.

Well i want to reply to your statment about JB being a jewish christian. I never said that i knew she was jewish, someone else asked if she was. Please read the old posts.

I am not jewish myself, but i know the bible teaches that the Jews are the chosen people of God. Even though they don't belive in Christ. Most Orthodox Jews that is.

I agree every one is equal in Gods eye.

oh boy i hope this doesn't make a stink.

To be technical and to go by what the Bible says, there is no such
thing as a Christian by birth. You can be born into a certain
denomination or sect, but that doesn't make you a Christian in
the Biblical sense.
btw:The earliest Christians like the Apostles Peter and Paul were
all Jewish.

The Main thing is this, it is a free gift (salvation)to the jew and the gentile. Thanks to Christ for paying the price. But The jews have been punished by GOD for disobeying him. Fourty years wandering in the wilderness and so on. But in the end they will return to GOD and Confess Christ, Known as the one hundred and fourty four thousand jews. As for you and me it would be wise for us not to hate or dislike jews as so many people do.
Nothing is easy as we all fall short.

Off the soap box.

Look, I'm the one who pointed that Justine is most likely Jewish! Everything everyone has spoken on that subject matter here since I pointed it out has said nothing but beside-the-point facts. In short, Justine Bateman going over to Christianity as a grown woman is no better than any new born baby being baptized into any Christian faith when the baby's only about two weeks old. We're all equal in God's eyes!

First off, You were not the one who pionted out she was most likely Jewish, NEDRTA was the one who "asked" if she was.

Second off, Baptism does not save you at birth or later on. It is only an understanding of your faith,.An infant has not reached the Age of accountabilty. What saves you is accepting Jesus Christ, that's all.

The Catholics(and others) believe that being baptised as an infant is very important for salvation and so forth. It is not. Once we reach the age of accountabilty only accepting Christ on faith can save us. Infants and children are covered. I'ts a good policy.

And if J.B. is a jew it is important that she return to GOD. The bilbe says that they rejected GOD. But the Main thing for you to understand is that i agree,(for the second time) that we are all loved the same by GOD.

And we still don't know if she is Jewish anyway.

You see why it is crazy over there in the holyland

I'm pretty sure this episode isn't autobiographical... you know, truth is stranger than fiction... Dana Plato took drugs and held up a liquor store... I NEVER saw that happen on "Different Strokes"!
Didn't she die recently? Was it drug overdose or suicide? Hmm...

Getting back to the topic at hand... I disagree: I don't think this was one of Justine Bateman's best or even memorable acting performances... mostly, her character (Mallory) was a prop for the story... her role was to react this episode... so, no great shakes...

Is it just me, or does every long-running family sitcom do a piece on child abuse? I'm glad people feel the need to get the message out... but hasn't it been done over and over and over...? ABC's
"Fallen Angel" (Dana Hill) thoroughly covers this shameful topic.

On a lighter note, I'm curious: how many people are like me and always get Justine Bateman and Sandra Bullock mixed up...?!

Man i didn't know that she was on that show! You see it doesn't pay to hate a show, because you can miss something!

I've never gotten them mixed up. I guess some people could though since they have the same color hair don't they? I think that Justines' acting is very good. Did anyone see the film Another Woman on WTN? It was on recently. I thought she did a great job at that role.

Hi there. Its been a while. What DO you think about that mistake filled Growing Up Brady book? Its a keeky blast isn't it?

And to keep it OT instead of OT (on/off) let me just say right now that Justine Bateman as Mallory looked much better in the first couple of seasons. In fact, she, much like Brady Bunch or:

Brady Grid:

--------:D--------:D-------:D-----

--------:D--------:D-------:D-----

--------:D--------:D-------:D-----

Righteous man.

Amen.

Uh oh. Dean Travers is talking to Jack Tripper. Well he was. Now Chrissy is talking to Tripper. Yep its time for Three's Company.

Gotta run.
