A Meteor streaked through the skies this morning and exploded approximately 30,000 feet above the ground over Russia. The Shock Wave shattered windows and injured over 400 people, mostly cuts and bruises. :eek4:

This Meteor exploded about 12 miles above the surface with the force of a 500 Kiloton Bomb! there's a video on youtube (I don't know how to post it on any forums) :confused: about the first British H-Bomb Test, which took place in 1957. The video has the sound of the shock wave and it sounds remarkably similar to the sound this meteor made. The explosion of this meteor was approximately 30 times bigger than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima!

NASA estimates the Meteor was about 50 feet in diameter, or about the size of a house. The Asteroid that passed 17,000 Miles was about 150 feet in diameter.

Thank Heaven this was a Stony Meteor (If it was Iron it would have gone all the way to the ground instead of exploding in mid-air) and that the Russians didn't think it was a nuclear attack, and decided to return the favor! :eek:

That's what I was thinking, and wondering if some of those people in those videos(or any Russians) thought they were being attacked by missiles or something. That would be a scary thing.

That was the Asteroid not the Meteor. The Asteroid passed safely by Earth and did not hit. They were right about that

It was the Meteor is that exploded over Russia. They could not predict that.

The Meteor had nothing to do with the Asteroid

Two Different things that both had to with Space that just happened to be on the same say.


It was just a Coincidence. They had nothing to do with each other. I take Nasa word for it. Remember there are hundreds of scientist all over the world not just the in the Untied State.

I was saying that to someone yesterday. If that had happened over North Korea they would have thought that it was a Missile and probably would have fired one back. And that whole region around North Korea is always on edge when they do a Missile test so it would not surprise me if some though it was North Korea doing a Missile test or something.

Regarding the Office Video, Ouch! That poor fella got smacked more than halfway across the room. :(
