We all know about stuff like the Marvel cinematic universe and Kevin
Smith films, but there are other films which share the same universe.
For example, in Coming to America, Akeem gives money to two poor bums,
who happen to be the Duke brothers from Trading Places, therefore
putting the two films in the same "universe". Any other examples?

In the 1988 horror flick Brain Damage, Kevin Van Hentenryck briefly appears as his character from Basket Case (1983).

The Alien and Predator films. Way back in Predator 2 it shows us that one of the Predator's prey was a Xenomorph(the Alien creature)


The Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street films. Jason Goes To Hell was already hinting at a Freddy Vs Jason. We also see the crate from The Crate segment of Creepshow, and the book from The Evil Dead.

Quentin Tarantino's films contain many "nods and winks" to his works and some are in the same universe.

One example is Vic Vega "Mr. Blonde" (Michael Madsen) from Reservoir Dogs and Vincent Vega (John Travolta) from Pulp Fiction are brothers.

Many of the old Universal horror flicks obviously took place in the same universe, for example, Maleeva the gypsy woman appeared in "The Wolf Man" in 1941,and also in "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman" in 1943, though I guess one could argue that's a direct sequel.

The "monster mash" films, "House of Dracula" and "House of Frankenstein" both featured characters from several series, including the Wolf Man, the Frankenstein Monster and Dracula.
