The 1993 World Trade Center bombing was one of the first major terrorist attacks to occur in the US so this must have been a huge story at the time.

I am sure they did not but they slightly covered the Oklahoma City bombing.

Yes, they did a segment on man named Duane Miller who was seriously injured in the Oklahoma City bombing and wanted to find the two unidentified men who rescued him. Sadly, he died in 2011 without ever finding out who they were.

I don't believe UM ever did anything on the World Trade Center bombing.

On the April 21, 1993 episode, they aired a new segment, which was essentially an FBI Alert where they talked about the search for Ramzi Ahmed Yousef who was suspected in participating in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. He had been added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list.

Other than this, I do not know of any other segements regarding the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

To answer the original question, there was a brief reference to the 1993 bombing of the WTC, I believe in one of the "Ripley Believe It Or Not" type segments having to do with psychics. This would be around the time when it seemed that UM began to do segments on all sorts of stupid stuff like aphrodisiacs, fertility statues, red mercury and anything and everything in between.

So yeah there was a reference to it during one of these "offbeat" segments but not a full segment devoted to it.

Actually if you can remember do you mind telling me specifically how the 93 WTC Bombing was referenced in the psychic segment? I don't recall ever reading anywhere of a psychic predicting the 93 bombing of the world trade center.

Also I have to add it's funny because when I mentioned The World Trade Center Bombing to my friends they thought I was referring to September 11 and were shocked when I told them that a major terrorist attack happened at the twin towers before September 11. It seems a lot of people forgot about the 93 bombing of the towers.
Apparantly from what I read the 1,500 pound truck bomb was meant to damage the pillars of one of the towers completely and cause it collapse hoping it would crash into the other tower as it collapsed essentially destroying both towers and killing tens of thousands of people since this attack occurred in the afternoon during a peak period of the day when most people and tourists were in those buildings. Fortunately the terrorist did not park the truck bomb where he was supposed to so it only caused minor damage to the pillars which still needed emergency repairs. In spite of that it still caused a lot of damage and both towers were completely filled with smoke and thousands were trapped for hours. I'm surprised only 6 people got killed.

There was still a mystery angel to it at the time because no one knew who did this attack so it's baffling UM would pass on this and yet do a segment on the Oklahoma City Bombing which featured a survivor looking for the men who rescued him.

My best supposition is that the FBI, ATF, and whatever other agencies were involved in the investigation already had leads enough. I think it wasn't even more than a week before they had information about a vehicle used in the attack, which led them to their first dude. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that Ted Kaczynski was found out, and the Unabomber segment aired in 1987 after over a decade of anonymous bombing attacks.

I can see why UM would choose to do the segment on the OKC survivor. Firstly, it would foster viewer sentiment and subsequently command attention--that is, it would maintain viewership. Secondly, LE agencies aren't going to investigate something like that. It's a "helping out your fellow" sort of thing, or at least it's intended to give that primary impression. Thirdly, why not? As far as I am aware, UM didn't really go seeking stories; individuals and agencies came to UM in hopes of getting a particular story aired more often than not. Unlike those working the Unabomber case, the WTC bombing investigating agencies hadn't run out of leads or information. They had a rather substantial amount very early on, and made the first arrest relatively quickly.

That segment referenced the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center since her disappearance occurred around the same time in that area so it was mentioned that her missing was not heavily investigated right away because the police and other agencies were fully involved with the terrorist attack on September 11 at the World Trade Center.
I was referring to the original terrorist attack there which involved a bomb detonated at the World Trade Center in 1993 and even included that year in the thread title to avoid confusion with September 11 since there are a lot of people unaware of that initial terrorist attack there.
