Ok back in dec. I was pulled over and I didn't have my car insurance with me, and the cop told me to just being proof that I had it to the police dept. by feb and they would likely just dismiss it.

Well, I UNDERSTOOD him to say that I had until the end of Feb to bring it in, but aparantly he meant by Feb 1st b/c I got a letter today saying I had an unpaid fine and if it was not taken care of in 2 weeks it could result in a suspension of my license.

WELL I plan on taking it up there tommorow and showing my proof of insurance and also it will prove I also had it when he stopped me.

I'm just really nervouse about this so I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if you know if I will have a fine to pay and how much it might be for that.

Will I have to pay a fine for not showing up in time showing my proof of insurance even though they will see I had it the whole time?

I doubt if there would be a fine.

I think whether or not there will be a fine will depend on your local jurisdiction. Good luck!

If he said by Feb that should mean Jan 31st

I agree with you. That's what they mean.

Maybe this is just me, but if i was pulled over by cop for whenever reason, I would do what ever asked as soon as possible. I wouldn't put if off much more than a week. You were spoken to in December, I would had the trouble straightened out by early part of January.

Yeah, I agree, you could have had this done earlier. Are you one of those procrastinators?

He said by February, you assumed he meant end of February?

Get it done, NOW...

I got a ticket for not having proof of insurance with me and I got fined $50. This is in California.
