Like the thread title sez, I don't buy Barney & Robin as a couple.

I think they have chemistry... but as friends, not romantic partners.

Anyone agree? Disagree?

Weekend bump. Hopefully someone will chime in with an opinion...one way or the other.

This forum doesn't seem to get a lot of posts. So, anyone, even if you disagree with me, reply!

My thread is dying of...wait for it...loneliness!

i don't really like them as a couple either - it seems to be something the writers did out of convenience to get to where they need Ted to be to find the "mother" - which I really couldn't care less about.

I'd rather Barney be happily going through women and being the classic Barney he is supposed to be, and Ted dies alone.

I agree! Barney is very selfish and self-centered. Robin tends to put her career ahead of her personal life. It doesn't seem like either one should really be part of a couple!

When they're alone in bed, there's no playfulness, no romance. They seem very self-absorbed and like two people who just happen to be occupying the same bed.

if it were just the two of them hooking up there's no problem - but the idea that they are getting married and committed to each other is a little unrealistic

Wait....they're on an "open relationship", right? Barney is well known to enjoy bedding a variety of women on a constant basis and Robin knows this, so no one is expecting this to be a monogamous relationship, right??

I'm not a fan of the relationship either. I think it's a tool so that Ted moves on from Robin so he can find the mother. I actually thought Barney fit better with and would marry Quinn--she's a stripper for God sake--it would have been perfect for him to end up with a stripper.

Personally, I think Ted should end up with Robin, but clearly, the "mother" will be someone new with the upcoming final season. But tonight's episode hinted that maybe the Barney/Robin relationship isn't all it's cracked up to be.

We will see...

well, they're "cousins" and all, so at least they have that in common

Yeah, that was a good gag.

I still think Barney & Robin play off each other best as friends. They're not giving me anything that will let me buy in to them as a couple.

I believe them as a couple they did have a good lead up to it imo.

I don't want them together as a couple either. It's something that I'm not in favor of but am accepting it reluctantly.

Well, the wedding hasn't happened yet. I bet they'll split right before it.

I hope so.

The decision to have the entire season take place the weekend of the wedding is not a good one, IMO.

I have read posts on FB from people who have stopped watching the show because they don't enjoy it anymore.

I still watch it and I enjoy the show, but the decision to cram an entire season into a weekend wasn't very well thought out imo.

Me thinks they've BONED THE FISH/JUMPED THE SHARK!

I still watch the show and have enjoyed some episodes, but the wedding weekend would have been better as the last three shows of the series

Kind of reminds me of Roseanne's last season.
