So, what's the unfunniest show that is supposed to be funny (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=311379)?
EmoJoe 02-13-2013, 04:52 AM I will never understand why anyone thinks The Big Bang Theory is funny.

MRPITT 02-14-2013, 01:11 PM I will never understand why anyone thinks The Big Bang Theory is funny.
I agree, I watched it a few times and dont find it funny.
MacLeaper 02-14-2013, 02:09 PM I love both "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "The Big Bang Theory"- both are quite hilarious to me.
There are some moments that I cringe more than laugh with AFHV though- but there are many moments captured on video tape that are just genuinely funny.
With "The Big Bang Theory" it does help some if you catch the references to sci-fi and fantasy shows and so forth- but it doesn't really matter. I think it's funny regardless- the characters all have funny quirks and funny relationships with each other. There are some moments on this show that I also cringe at that I wish they wouldn't show- but for the most part, I think it's one of the best comedies on TV today. (Along with "Psych", but that's also a bit of a comedy/mystery blend- I really like this show too.):)
USATVFAN 02-14-2013, 07:54 PM That's the beauty of TV, there is something funny for everyone.
I have to agree.
Everybody has different taste and different opinion on what is a good show or not, What Funny What not Funny and what make a good show. Everybody like different things and are not going to always agree. not everyone is going to agree on what Unfunny because someone else may think it one of the best shows of all time.
I like Cheers but I know of peoples who do not like the show and do not think it funny. I do not like Beverly Hillbillies and I do not think it funny but i know of some peoples who think it is funny.

5. Friends
My current list
1. 30 Rock
2. Modern Family
3. Community
4. Happy Endings
5. Mike and Molly
cherryade 02-17-2013, 03:40 AM The Chuck Lorre sitcoms and their clones.
So bad, yet so successful, that they killed the entire multicamera genre for a generation.
Gertie1999 02-17-2013, 12:40 PM I also don't find The Big Bang Theory funny. But maybe its because I'm not the targeted audience.
Ryan Chamberlain 02-17-2013, 04:39 PM Pretty much every sitcom made after 2003.
Except for 30 Rock and Modern Family and The Office (First 4 seasons only).
Everything else...Is so bland.
I tried watching Community and Parks and Rec the other night. And, I didn't laugh once.

4. Happy Endings
Completely agree!! People keep saying it's the next Friends and I sit there and laugh at that comment. Happy Endings is horrible.
TVFactFan 02-17-2013, 07:24 PM Completely agree!! People keep saying it's the next Friends and I sit there and laugh at that comment. Happy Endings is horrible.
Yes and it should be cancelled soon now that it's on Friday nights lol
icecream 02-17-2013, 10:36 PM My list from the past
1. Frasier
2. Mary Tyler Moore
3. Barney Miller
4. Mork and Mindy
5. FriendsI thought you were a fan of 2, 4, and 5 and were going to try 3? And have you seen Frasier. It's really good, the first half of the show was better.
TVFactFan 02-17-2013, 10:43 PM I thought you were a fan of 2, 4, and 5 and were going to try 3? And have you seen Frasier. It's really good, the first half of the show was better.
I wanted to get into MTM but it was too many characters I didn't like
Mork and Mindy was too cartoonish
Friends had too much relationship drama for me
tlc38tlc38 02-18-2013, 12:56 AM There's a lot of sitcoms I don't much care for because I think they're just plain boring or outright stupid. Here's my list but I probably forgot a few.
Frasier
The Office
Leave it to Beaver
The Jamie Foxx Show
Sex and the City
M*A*S*H
Hogan's Heroes
Arrested Development
Everybody Hates Chris
My Name is Earl
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Ryan Chamberlain 02-20-2013, 09:40 PM Adding The Neighbors to my list. Another bland unfunny excuse for a sitcom. Just like every new sitcom. Do people know comedy anymore at all? I think not.
This crap makes me wanna fall asleep. Not laugh.
MrCleveland 02-20-2013, 10:21 PM I don't think "The Simpsons" are funny...it's the same scenario again, but it's STILL on. "Bob's Burgers" is even less funny.
And I don't like "How I Met Your Mother" because the girlfriend my brother is seeing gave me the "Try it, you'll like it" way with this show...but I can't stand the show because of the character Barney Stintson. Why do the other characters hang around this selfish jerk?
EmoJoe 02-21-2013, 12:02 AM I'm pretty sure just about every sitcom ever made has been listed in this thread.
Sophia's Wrinkles 02-21-2013, 11:04 AM 2 Broke Girls
visaman666 02-22-2013, 03:47 AM I will never understand why anyone thinks The Big Bang Theory is funny.
I have only seen the Will Wheaton episodes. I think they are meant to be ironic, not gust busting funny.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-22-2013, 05:04 PM The Chuck Lorre sitcoms and their clones.
So bad, yet so successful, that they killed the entire multicamera genre for a generation.
I couldn't agree with this statement more. I think you hit the nail on the head.
liane49 06-01-2013, 12:32 PM I will never understand why anyone thinks The Big Bang Theory is funny.
I love Big Bang Theory and the Office. I hate 30 Rock, community, Parks and Recreation and Sinfeld. And I just couldn't stand all that pinging and panging music in the background.
Yong Fang 06-01-2013, 10:04 PM The Chuck Lorre sitcoms and their clones.
So bad, yet so successful, that they killed the entire multicamera genre for a generation.
I would usually agree, but I really like Mike and Molly, it's my second favorite series behind Parks and Recreation. All funny characters, not much low brow humor, and when there is, 98% of the time it's great.
Vince is a classic. Probably the first time the actor has done TV comedy and he nails it to me
Yong Fang 06-01-2013, 10:08 PM I love Big Bang Theory and the Office. I hate 30 Rock, community, Parks and Recreation and Sinfeld. And I just couldn't stand all that pinging and panging music in the background.
Hate Parks and Recreation? We would murder each other Thursday nights if we were locked up in a room with one TV!
I tried Community several times, and quickly giving up on it for being way too quirky. As in way, way, way, out there, WTF is this S, type of quirky.
treky 06-02-2013, 02:36 AM I tried COMMUNITY once and hated it. I wasgoing to give it another try, but now I can't bring myself to watch it ever since my cousin; who works on it; said what the cast is like off-camera ecspecially Chevy Chase.
sitcomobsessed 06-03-2013, 01:14 AM There was a show that aired on NBC from May to July 2010. It was called 100 Questions. Absolute garbage...
70s show watcher 06-03-2013, 05:34 AM There was a show that aired on NBC from May to July 2010. It was called 100 Questions. Absolute garbage...i saw that show i didnt care for it ether
Yong Fang 06-03-2013, 06:19 AM Scrubs was another show that was on for many years that I disliked. I bought some DVD's on the series in China and watched some of them, but they weren't funny to me at all.
Strange thing is that I liked most of the actors. But the show was bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.

liane49 06-13-2013, 11:00 AM I completely agree with all four.
Most comedies that are on NBC I find stupid, but I do like the office. I hate How I met Your Mother. I never liked Sinfeld and the music in the background drove me crazy. Most comedies that are on Fox I find stupid but I do like Raising Hope. I do like The Big Bang Theroy.
howierules86 06-19-2013, 09:45 AM My votes include:
Full House (particularly the Nicky/Alex era)
Will & Grace (post-2001 with the exception of the Dr. Leo episodes, this seriously went on longer than it should have)
Community (I tried to get into this show in its first season, but couldn't get through it at all. Needless to say, when CBS moved the Big Bang Theory to Thursdays at 8:00 PM, I had no problem switching over then)
According to Jim (how did this last as long as it did? Larry Joe Campbell was just obnoxious to me)
My Wife & Kids (I stopped watching before this Franklin character showed up. Still, Damon Wayans deserved way better than this show)
The Office (after Steve Carell left)
Spin City (Charlie Sheen era)
Two and a Half Men
Anger Management (Does anyone think Charlie Sheen is funny? Sorry, but I don't.)
Rules of Engagement
Raising Hope (dysfunctional family-sitcoms are just getting old to me)
Running Wilde (seriously, who names their kid Puddles? Even Keri Russell couldn't make that show watchable)
Mr. Drucker 06-19-2013, 11:13 AM Don't you mean the Ashton Kutcher era of "Two And A Half Men"?
Adamantium 06-19-2013, 01:07 PM These are five sitcoms that are generally considered to be popular, funny shows. I, however, don't think they're funny (aka the topic of this thread, lol).
1. Two and a Half Men (This is absolutely the worst sitcom ever, in my opinion. It's just simply not funny... and yet it's so popular. I don't understand it.)
2. George Lopez (Never laughed while watching it. Don't see the appeal)
3. The Nanny (I can't stand Fran's voice, nor do I think the show is funny, nor do I like any of the actors on this show.)
4. The Beverly Hillbillies (This is the only 60s sitcom that I think is just bad. It lasted way too long, too. Nine seasons is a bit much for this show.)
5. Sanford & Son (Of the shows listed, this is the only one I actually own on DVD. However, I don't think it's funny. Just the same old lame jokes over and over again. You've seen one episode, you've seen 'em all.)
Ohio8 07-05-2013, 07:16 PM According to Jim
The George Lopez Show
America's Funniest Home Videos
andress_jade 07-10-2013, 01:35 AM I was really shocked to see a couple of posters on here put Frasier. How can you think Frasier isn't funny? David Hyde Pierce was gut wrenching funny! His character of Niles Crane was epic! I love the show! :D
But I do agree with a lot of the posters on here, there are a lot of shows on those lists I don't find one bit funny. If I don't like it, I don't watch it. ;)
Torgo 07-10-2013, 09:12 AM I will never understand why anyone thinks The Big Bang Theory is funny.
Why do you have to understand? Humor is subjective.
Torgo 07-10-2013, 09:14 AM I have to agree.
Everybody has different taste and different opinion on what is a good show or not, What Funny What not Funny and what make a good show. Everybody like different things and are not going to always agree. not everyone is going to agree on what Unfunny because someone else may think it one of the best shows of all time.

I tried with it, I really did. My younger brother had recommended it to me because I'm an Arrested Development fan, so I went into it very optimistic. But, nope.
scrapple 01-20-2016, 09:49 PM My worst show of all time: Night Court (just absolutely stupid)
Runners-up: The Office, Community, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother
I know everyone has their own taste, but how anyone could not find Frasier or Everybody Loves Raymond not funny is beyond me. Love those shows, wonderfully acted.
just do it 01-21-2016, 03:13 PM Everybody Loves Raymond. The only funny person in that show is Ray's brother (the one with the deep voice). The rest of the characters are complete airheads.
king of comedy 01-22-2016, 09:37 PM My worst show of all time: Night Court (just absolutely stupid)
Runners-up: The Office, Community, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother
I know everyone has their own taste, but how anyone could not find Frasier or Everybody Loves Raymond not funny is beyond me. Love those shows, wonderfully acted.
I put Night Court on the top of my list too. Looking back now, how stupid, corny and lame it was and now I wished I never saw it.
Crusinforabrusin 01-28-2016, 07:38 PM Hogans Heroes And The Facts Of Life take the cake as being the unfunniest shows of all time in my opinion.
Runners Up: The Untouchables, Murphy Brown, South Park, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Threes Company, The Honeymooners
king of comedy 01-28-2016, 10:56 PM Welcome Back Kotter
bmasters9 02-01-2016, 12:14 PM Much as I dislike admitting it, Frasier is now that for me. The first 1/3 of it (first four seasons) was not too bad, and was actually pretty funny (the normal relationship between Frasier and his brother, their father, and their father's home health care worker). When it got to the fifth season, however, the endless romantic angles bogged it down and pushed out the wittiness, and now Frasier has become quite the bore for me.
Tubehead 02-03-2016, 01:54 AM mine top picks:

Yes Dear
For "classic" stuff, I've tried watching Hazel, and the show just made no sense. I get that it was a different era, but the plots were very...square.
