LITB's theme song is NOT music to my dog's ears. I am wondering if it's just my dog, or if there's something about the music that annoys my dog. I often watch a couple of episodes of LITB before I go to sleep at night, but when the theme song comes on (which it does between each episode and when posting the credits) my dog starts whimpering and crying as if in pain. Even if he's sleeping, he still makes the same noises. It cracks me up, but I wonder if I'm hurting his ears?

If your dog cries only when the LITB song plays at the END of the episode, maybe he's just sad that Beaver's over! If it's both the beginning and end credits, I don't know. I hope you can help him!
What kind of dog do you have? Is he in the room when Beaver's on TV? Or can he hear the theme song no mater where he is in the house and starts crying? Some dogs' hearing is more sensitive than others. Maybe turning down the volume to a low level might help. The other thing you might try, is if you TV has a headphone jack, you could get some nice headphones and watch Beaver, or whatever you want, without disturbing him.
If turning down the volume doesn't work or the headphones are not an option, maybe the TV is picking up a hum or something when the song plays? Are you watching Beaver on DVD or on a local station?
Are there any other instances or sounds in your home or outside the home that might be disturbing him? You may want to ask your Vet to check your dogs' ears for hearing sensitivity relating to this issue, if the options above don't work.
Sorry about your dog's discomfort!

Maybe you're right--he just hates to see the show end. LOL!! Seriously, he does sleep in the same room as me. It's really the only time I have ever seen him act this way. I watch the shows on DVDs that I purchased so I don't think they're the problem. The music does have a "tinny" sound to it, so maybe it's just the sound he's not used to.
He's a big old boy, an Anatolian Shepherd, but you'd never know it because he's timid around most people. However, the neighbors call him "Cujo" because of his stature and bark.

Some of the season 3 episodes have whistling in the closing theme. That high pitched sound might do it.

I watch Leave It To Beaver all the time and my dog never has barked, whimpered, etc. when the theme song plays and he tends to bark at any strange noise he hears. I know when I'm watching Netflix and I watch a different show, then put Leave It To Beaver on the volume tends to get a lot higher. It could be that the volume goes up suddenly when the theme song is played that causes his reaction. It might be a little too loud and hurts his ears. If it's turned down and low and he still does that, then maybe there's just some noise in the music that he really dislikes.
