NBC cancels 'Do No Harm' after 2 episodes
by James Hibberd

What took so long?

NBC has cancelled Do No Harm.

Sure that sounds really fast. Only two episodes have aired. But the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde medical drama premiered last Thursday to rank as the lowest-rated in-season broadcast scripted series debut in modern history. Last night’s second episode declined even further, down 22 percent in the demo a 0.7 among adults 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers. It didn’t take a brain surgeon, even one with an evil alter-ego, to figure out this title wasn’t going to stay on the air

Do No Harm will be replaced by encore broadcasts of Law & Order: SVU for the next two weeks. It marks the second medical drama to get the ax season (the first was Fox’s The Mob Doctor).

The move concludes (we hope) a rough Friday at the end of an even rougher week for NBC. The networks new midseason shows (including Deception and 1600 Penn) haven’t found traction, and then Smash returned down sharply in the ratings earlier this week. The network’s one recent sunny headline — which just goes to show how unpredictable this business is — is that constant underdog comedy Community came back stronger than expected in the ratings last night.

the Community premiere was AWESOME - hopefully NBC gives it a little more respect and stops treating it like crap. they need more shows like that.

that 1600 Penn show was unbearable, could not even sit through the first half of it.

I was really interested in Do No Harm too. I have a feeling that the end result was going to be the evil alter ego was actually the real personality.

I think medical dramas don't have the appeal they once did anymore.
