In another thread, I mentioned that one of the reasons I have been a fan of Friends from the beginning was because I was at about the same age as most of the characters when the show began and at the same beginning phase of my career. The young characters on Friends really appealed to me as being representative of my generation and our transition into responsible adult lives and careers. And it did remind me of the way my colleagues and friends hung out and related to one another (though we drank a lot more beer than coffee....).

However, that other conversation made me wonder the supposed age of the 6 characters on Friends - were they not all supposed to be around 24-26 or 27 in the first season?

Seems like that is about right. The Rachel turns 30 episode was in Feb of 2001. So that would have made her 24 when the show started I believe?
