I can't pick just four... this would be my cast. I'd have Blair, Jo, Nat, and Tootie and I'd also add in Sue Ann.

I think it shoulda been, Blair, Tootie, Natalie, and Sue Ann.........I think Sue Ann did basically what Jo did.I mean, she was always pitching insults at Blair, except when Blair started it, and then she always had a GOOD comeback!

Jo, Blair, Nat, and Tootie. I would add SueAnne and Cindy.

Jo, Blair, Tootie, and Natalie. Couldn't be any other way. :D The other first season girls had no depth and substance to their characters. I can't imagine anyone but my four girls in the show. :D

Wasn't that Nancy? When in the second season........Nancy kept making fun of Blair. Especially the episode where Tootie posed for that popular photographist.

Maybe once or twice Sue Ann got Blair in the episode where the girls all went on diets and Sue Ann Fainted.

NOW THAT WAS FUNNY!

Your half right- Nancy DID make fun of Blair. But Nancy's character was Jo.

Sue Ann (Julie Piekarski) also made fun of her too. Sue Ann and Blair in the first season were like the equivalent to Blair and Jo in the rest of the show in terms of making fun of each other.

Umm I think he means Nancy the character, Felice Schacter, because she was in that "Pretty Babies" episode. :D

I think it was fine as Jo,Blair,Natalie and Tootie. Although if I had to choose one of the girls from the first season it would be Sue Ann.

Honestly I wish it would have been Blair, Sue Ann, Nancy and Tootie instead of Blair, Jo, Natalie and Tootie.

I kinda wish all seven girls could of stayed on. NBC could air two shows about the Facts of Life or something. But it should of been Natalie, Blair, Molly, and Nancy. I like all the girls but this is in my opinion.

I'm sure it would have been fine without Molly. I think Nancy would have stood a chance. Actually Any of them would have. Natalie was a beginner and she faired pretty nicely. SueAnn seemed to have had a pretty fair number of episodes about her during the first season. CIndy would have been a good dramatic actress. I though she was good and should have been given more to do after episode 1. Nancy during the second season was the only one from the first to be involved in a storyline also shared by Mrs. Garrett, Blair, Tootie and Jo which turned out to be a good episode. I was always patial to episodes that featured the first season girls.

There was still room for them all to appear occasionally after 1981, but of course the pinhead producers didn't have enough imagination to keep them incorperated in the show even though they all still attended the same school. I can think of several episodes where they would of been necessary to showcase with the rest of the girls especially since blair needed to be seen interacting with more girls her age besides jo since she was after all the popular girl at eastland and she already had a good camraderie with sueann and nancy.

I vote for SUE ANN too (instead of JO) or even CINDY cos both of them could have challenged BLAIR. On the other hand, MOLLY wasn't needed and was my least favourite.
NANCY? Maybe!

Lots of room for Molly. Nancy the character? The least developed character of the 8 girls.

We were talking about a replacement for JO to challenge BLAIR (MOLLY hardly qualifies cos she's around TOOTIE's age) so it would need to be one of the older girls: SUE ANN or CINDY. Maybe not NANCY, cos she is a lot like BLAIR and wouldn't really be much of a challenge to her!:happyface

There needs to be more to the plots than someone to challenge Blair. They quickly ran out of plots once they reduced them to 4 girls and started to repeat the same plots by season 3.

I never believed reducing the number of girls at a girls' school to just four girls made sense (because they had at least ten students on Head of the Class, and six on Saved by the Bell, during a similar era on television), so I totally reject the idea that there could only be four girls. Only coked-out NBC executives would decide seven girls at a girls' school was "too many girls". Degrassi had more than 30 students, for God's sake. And, sure, that show was 45 minutes long... so chop the number of characters in half, and you still have 15 students. No amount of Lisa's "the show was only 12 minutes long"-type explanations justify the Cast Purge for me.

Cindy wasn't one of the older girls, she was one of the younger girls. Nancy, Blair, and Sue Ann were the "oldies" (lol). Natalie and Cindy were a couple years younger, then Molly, then Tootie was the baby. :baby:

Actually, CINDY was almost one of the 'oldies': she was only a year younger (she says on the 'Rough housing' episode that's she's 14 and SUE ANN, BLAIR and NANCY were only 15). NAT on the other hand was a couple of years younger, MOLLY even so and TOOTIE definitely the baby!

Cindy/Julie Ann was 14. Natalie/Mindy was 13. The characters ages matched the same as the actresses. Sue Ann, Blair, and Nancy were suppose to be 15, but all the actresses were 16. Julie Pie turned 17 during the first season and is the oldest. No age was set for Molly Parker on the show, but Molly Ringwald was 11/12 during the first season. I would say her age was the same on the show. Tootie was like 12 for 2 or 3 years on the show before turning 13 just shortly before the 3rd season opener. Kim Fields wouldn't be 13 until the Season 4 opener

No, I think Eastland started at age 12, since Tootie was 12. Molly was either 12 or 13 since her hormones had been confirmed to be triggered according to the government, but probably 12 or 12 1/2.
