Family Matters is sorta like a black version of Full House. All the characters are harmless and goody-goody types.

What is BET thinking?

I don't think so either.

As of now, it is a MARATHON on March 2. http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2013/02/bet-schedules-family-matters-stunt-in.html

They have aired marathons before. If Diff'rent Strokes aired on BET, so can Family Matters. If it does join the schedule, it could be even on Centric.

Diff'rent Strokes has aired on BET, but I don't think it belonged there.

I think Family Matters would fit since BET has changed drastically over the years. It's not the same BET that it was in the 90's and early 2000's.

What the hell is Hip Hop programming? 106 & Park? There are a lot of Christian based movies that are air on BET, it is more family friendly than what it use to be. I believe there is even a Christian based singing show that airs in the Fall. So yes, I believe that Family Matters would fit.

The only reality show that is on BET hasn't aired yet. It's Real Husbands of Hollywood. I thinks it's gonna be like the reality show that Darryl Bell did a few years back.

I think its a great that they are airing it. Atleast we can watch it at a better time than 6:00 am or 6:30 am or whatever time Nick @ Nite aired it and if it is for only one day we will be able to see on tv once again and possibly seasons that aren't on DvD yet.

To Brieannas21, I think i know what TvFactFan means. i know there is such thing as ghetto tv but its like shows / programming with blacks acting and talking more ghetto then you see on black comedy's and shows where they act and talk more goody goody.

What does "ghetto" mean and what does "goody goody" mean?

It seems like these are stereotypes that are thrust upon people- and apparently upon an entire race in this case. I take it "ghetto" is taken to mean "bad" (i.e. dirty-dealing thug, criminal, lowlife, etc.) "Goody goody" I would take to mean "good" but with a caveat (apparently so "good" that it makes people roll their eyes and call it "corny", "cheesy", etc. Or so "good" that people can't believe anyone really acts like that all the time.)
Of course, isn't it good to be good? Why would good ever be looked at as a bad characteristic?
Now, I do understand that there is the Pharisaical type of good where the motives are self-seeking and not really God-seeking- and thus, that would in fact be bad. (i.e. Saying prayers loudly in public to be heard by man, doing good deeds like giving to the poor but making sure that everyone knows exactly how much you're giving, etc.) Those who seek the praise of men have all the reward they're going to get- because God certainly doesn't reward that.
Of course, I feel the "goody goody" term is a misnomer in any case because no one is truly good. Jesus said no one is good but God- and of course, He is God. Ultimately, we are all bad at the core because of the fall of man back when Adam and Eve sinned. But that's why God sent Jesus to be good for us- living a perfect, sinless life- and dying on the cross and rising again to give us salvation if we will believe Him and ask for it.
Then when the righteousness of Christ dwells in us, He is the only good in us.
But anyway, as to BET's programming schedule, I'm sure their audiences would enjoy shows like "Family Matters" and "Diff'rent Strokes" as much as "A Different World" and "The Steve Harvey Show". I've seen at least some of all these and enjoy them all pretty well. Of course, I think people of all races can enjoy them because they are fun comedies- you don't have to be the same race to relate or enjoy the jokes and positive messages intermixed.

There's nothing wrong with the programming on BET. I like both the old and new shows. Family Matters will be good and hopefully it won't be edited as bad as Nick at Nite. But I also like The Game, which used to be on CW, and I'm a white male. Some people may think of that as a ghetto show, but I think it's pretty good.

I've rarely saw shows on BET, but they basically aim toward African-Americans between the ages of 18 and 49...or so it seems.

I've also see a few Evangelist Shows on BET, particularly Dr. Charles Stanley's Show "In Touch".

It really wasn't. I remember the first time they aired a s1 episode it was during a marathon and I was excited to finally see the non abc family version of a season one episode. That was the only season one episode they aired until months later when they reran season one from the pilot. As a huge fan of season one I know they very rarely showed it. On abc family they showed every ep in order from s1- 9 but on nick it was a jumble of eps and usually from later seasons.

Monday 3/4:
10am - "Bowl Me Over"
10:30am - "Rock Video"
3pm - "Rachel's Place"

Tuesday 3/5:
10am - "Torn Between Two Lovers"
10:30am - "Marriage 101"
3pm - "Flashpants"
3:30pm - "The Crash Course"

Wednesday 3/6:

10:30am - "Dog Days Halloween"
3pm - "Cousin Urkel"
3:30pm - "Dedicated to the One I Love"

Thursday 3/7:
10am - "The Science Project"
10:30am - "Requiem for a Urkel"

Friday 3/8:
10am - "Fast Eddie Winslow"
10:30 - "Have Yourself a Merry Winslow Christmas"
3pm - "Ice Station Winslow"
3:30pm - "Son"

It looks like beginning on 3/5, FM will air on BET 4 times a day (with a few exceptions)! And, so far, they're going in order.

I will probably tune in for the marathon and watch it here and there but I won't start setting my DVR until season 4 starts seeing as how we already have seasons 1-3 on DVD.

Seasons 4, 5, & 6 are my favorites mainly because that's when I religiously started watching TGIF. Season 5 of FM is when Boy Meets World started and that's really what got me started watching the other wonderful shows in the Friday lineup. I also liked the introduction of Myra in season 4. For some reason I always liked Myra more than Laura...I guess because she liked Steve for Steve and she didn't want to change him into Stefan.
