Had the show lasted another season, do you think they would have kept Oliver on?

If the show had gone on another year, that would mean that bringing Oliver on had actually worked, so of course they would have kept him on.

I think they would have kept Oliver on. He gave the writers new stories to write about and he seemed to get along well with the rest of the cast.

Yeah, and if it ran 4 more years they would have added a little sister and so on.

LOL

Well to ME Oliver kinda represented both boy and GIRL energy, in a way, I think they kinda used him for both.

I noticed Oliver kinda fit in with both the girls AND the boys. Sometimes he would be teaming up with the boys and sometimes with the girls.

I mean yeah he was a boy, BUT he had blonde haior like the girls and acted a little more feminine than the other boys I think.

To me Oliver was like a combo of Cindy and Bobby :)

And on a side not to the first one who replied, I don't thin k Oliver was necesarily the reason the show went off.

Did someone say he was?

Well you said:

Sorta sounded like it was implied that Oliver was either to make or break the show continuing, and since it didn't go another season, bringing him on didn't work. Thats just how it sounded.

I mean IMO if they had a 6 season it could have gone either way, they could have had him or not. But for some reason I see him being written out.

I honestly don't see how you can infer that from what I said. I acknowledged that putting him on was an attempt to save a show that was in trouble, but it didn't work. That in no way implies that he killed the show.

Note that I said that "if the had gone on another year that would mean that bringing Oliver on had worked" the clear implication there is that the show would have been cancelled even if they hadn't brought him on.

I've never bought the idea that Oliver killed the show. I think Oliver actually helped the show but it was too little, too late. If it had gone on for a sixth season, it would be partly because of Oliver.

People who blame Oliver for the cancellation are kidding themselves about the show's viability in the second part of Season 5. They came real close to not even making the second part of season 5.

In case that still isn't clear enough:

People who say Oliver ruined the show don't acknowledge that he was an attempt to save a show that was in trouble. Instead they think the show was doing fine and he ruined it.

Ok sorry for the misunderstanding, and I also am one who likes Oliver ok.

I think they would have kept him though by this time the show had run its course.

If they had kept him for another season, I wonder if they would have given him his own square in the opening and closing lol

He'd be hard to explain in the theme song, they'd have to add another verse.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That this group might somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch!

"And Oliver's parents never came to pick him up"
"And now he's a Brady, just our luck"

That's the way we became the Brady Bunch

Considering that Robert Reed probably wouldn't have been on the show, it was better that it ended when it did.

Hehe, OR he could have just popped up like Alice does, she's not really explained either in the song :)
