I think normal kids would have told their parents as soon as summer break started, not wait until the day they are supposed to go back to school. Denise had issues for sure, her reasoning for certain situations were off, like wanting to be a teacher without graduating college LOL.

I don't think that Vanessa was odd, she was just boy crazy. Denise was a little dingy.
