Hello -
I am an artist trying to make a video piece based on my memory of a specific unsolved mysteries episode that I can't seem to find. There's something like 500 + episodes and I'm a feeling a little overwhelmed in my research! I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. The episode I"m looking for features a psychic (i believe that would be the proper term?) whose skin flaked gold. Additionally, I vividly remember a clip of this woman having a necklace with the virgin mary on it, being extracted from her ear by another woman. It's a very grain video (early 80's video technology) and this poor lady is screaming bloody murder. I am almost positive this woman turned out to be a fraud.

I know that's a vague recollection to work from - but if can help me narrow down my search at all, I would be greatly apprecaitive!

Thank you!

I don't remember the St Mary necklace, but I do know exactly which segment you're talking about. The woman gave her name as Katie. Her segment aired on October 31, 1990 at the beginning of the third season. This is about all I could dig up on her:

I too think she was probably faking the incidents.

Yes!!! thank you so much MegtheEgg86! This is exactly what i was looking for. You just saved me many hours of frustration, googling "fraud, psychic, gold skin flakes" to no avail. :)

A million thanks!!

Unfortunately you asked this question about 4 days too late! Someone had posted full episodes on UM on a site that we are not allowed to mention about a year ago, and I was just watching the episode with Katie on Saturday when the channel got killed for copyright infringement. It seems there are almost no UM clips on that site any longer as well.

Ack!! No! What sad news :(
You don't happen to know of any other online sources?

maybe Hulu? Vimeo? Daily Motion?

I've seen some of the "in search of" eppies on dailymotion a few years back. They might have what you're looking for.

BTW, MODS - are we to refrain from mentioning any of the content sharing sites or just that certain one? I don't wanna get in any trouble. :D

I noticed there's a locked thread here that touches on this subject of unauthorized video sharing on That Site and UM content is quickly being removed.

I recently read that the Site has a project in the works... something about some content being available on Pay Channels for minimum fees.

Is it possible that the vids we are looking for are being removed in preparation for them to be presented by CM on their own channel there? I think that would be great and I would definitely be willing to subscribe to a pay channel for this program.

Oh... and when I move in a few weeks, I plan to get netflix instead of cable or satellite. Does CM have any of the UM programs on netflix?

I have never discussed that with the owner but its the same copyright infringement on those sites to my understanding so I don't think he would like it.

Btw we know that Cosgrove Meurer knows about this board and probably checks it from time to time. I think the constant mentions of YT and the "forbidden site" references on here (despite it being against the rules) probably helped in alerting Cosgrove Meurer about all the YT segments and having them taken down. Just a theory.

Thanks for the info! Better to be on the safe side. :)

No, no and no. They are greedy ****ers and they have no intention of allowing you to see the shows, or helping find missing people, or helping solve murder cases. Which is funny because no one is going to buy their crappy boxsets that have the same cases like the stupid chair one.

They tried doing reality TV in 2011 and failed miserably. Some show called "Auction Packed".

They have some show on the Biography channel called "The Family That Slays Together". You know that message on the front of the unsolved.com about "Do you know of a family that committed a murder together?" That's what this show is about. Sounds stupid, bad narrator , looks like an ID channel show. They're just using their audience, playing them for fools (after all, if they believe the alien cases they must be fools right?) . Seems to me like they have no intention of ever doing anything with Unsolved- just depriving the victims and their families any closure. We can only hope the TNT show "Cold Justice" is not a big pile of ****, actually features important, unsolved, missing and murders etc....and that it is successful, and that people watch it, so other people can create copycat shows.

Oh brother! I wondered what that strange new comment on unsolved.com was all about. "The Family That Slays Together"..... sounds classy

Back on topic: I don't know why everyone here makes fun of this case, while people believe other segments of similar dubious plausibility. Maybe because they spent half the Unsolved Mysteries segment debunking the whole thing? They usually didn't do that.
