View Full Version : Who Would you like to see host UM?

I do not like Dennis Farina hosting Unsolved Myteries. This show has always been Robert Stack. No one will ever do it as well. But since Stack is gone, I would like to see John Glover from Smallville host the show.

My top idea would be Maureen Maher. She does an incredible job at immersing you into the story on 48 Hours. I watched one of her interviews on the show's website and from what she says in the video, she gets emotionally immersed in the cases herself. Robert Stack may have never specifically expressed similar feelings while hosting UM but he still immersed you in the case. Maureen is great at that too.

Not to be mean here, but they took the show off the air again and might not be back for the seeable future so I don't see any point, but if I were to pick someone, heck, have John Walsh or Peter Thomas do it.

It's not going to happen so why bother speculating? The producers simply do not give a **** about unsolved cases anymore. When Robert Stack died the heart and soul of Unsolved Mysteries died. He actually cared about some of the cases.

Let's hope the TNT Cold Justice is not a pile of **** but I am sure it will be as are most "reality" shows.

LMFAO!!!

I would say someone with a booming voice like Robert Stack, like James Earl Jones. Or the guy who does all the movie commercials with his voice overs.

At the very least, if the show did come back, there would be no chance of it being hosted by someone from another true crime show (especially since one of them is the host of a rival series).

The producers simply do not give a **** about unsolved cases anymore. When Robert Stack died the heart and soul of Unsolved Mysteries died. He actually cared about some of the cases.

I seriously question whether the producers have become legitimately indifferent about unsolved cases. If anything, I'd say the networks are more more indifferent about the topic than the producers. When Robert Stack died, it was really Lifetime that chose to discontinue production of UM. Stack's death was such a huge loss that Lifetime didn't appear to be as invested in the show as they once were, which is not uncommon. (For example: Suddenly Susan, Bonanza, News Radio, and Chico and the Man were all canceled within a year after the death of a cast member.)

In general, whether we like it or not, producers don't have the final say on continuing or bringing back their show. Such decisions are finalized only by a network or (in the case of first-run syndicated shows) a syndicator.

All they have to do it set up a youtube channel with each segment, if they truely cared about getting these cases solved.

Totally agree with The Flying Dutchmans - Robert Stack made that show and gave it just the right kind of vibe.

Peschi would be brilliant, but I could see every other word being an "f-bomb". Don't think the censors would like that.

Keely Shaye Smith or Virginia Madsen would make sense to me, although I do like the idea of Keith Morrison hosting. Honestly I'd just like to see it come back with the same format and not a reheated version like the one with Dennis Farina.

1. Carolyn McCormick (AKA Dr. Olivet on Law & Order): great voice--she moonlights as an audiobook reader--and beautiful to boot.

2. Linda Hunt (Hetty from NCIS:LA): love her voice too.

3. CCH Pounder: ditto.
