We always talk about shows that started off good but went Stale at the End of it Run (Roseanne, Cosby Show) or Shows that started off bad but was a Great Show by the time it ended (Cheers, Seinfeld). And then those Shows that had a Weak period Somewhere in the middle after starting off good but improved again by the end.

But What TV Shows do you think Was Good from the start of it run and stayed Good until the end of it run?

My List:
Home Improvement
Murphy Brown
Three's Company
The Golden Girls
The Dick van Dyke show

The Mary Tyler Moore Show is an example of a scripted show being "good from start to finish".

I agree about ER and Friends. Some episodes weren't as outstanding as others, but neither series was ever "bad."

I'll also include Curb Your Enthusiasm on my list. It may have jumped it a bit in later years, but the show was/is consistently great.

30 Rock. Their final season was one of their best. Pretty rare for a TV comedy.

My personal list of "never-jumps":

--M Squad

--Have Gun, Will Travel

--Wanted: Dead or Alive

--The Streets of San Francisco (even though Richard Hatch was in for that fifth and final go, Karl Malden was still great as Lt. Mike Stone, so that kept that fresh and kept it from jumping)

--Barney Miller

--The Bob Newhart Show

--Petrocelli

The first show that comes to my mind is Barney Miller. Actors came and went, (and were often sorely missed), but their replacements - Steve Landesberg comes to mind right away - were always excellent. That Girl also was pretty good until the end IMHO.

Police Squad was great from start to finish. Only problem is the show only lasted 6 episodes.

I can't think of one TV show that was good from start to finish.

Seinfeld stunk in the beginning and lost steam at the end.

Happy Days started off great but ended terribly

All In the Family went down hill when the baby was added.
