Don't get me wrong, there are shows on the ID Network that I really enjoy and try to watch every week. Disappeared is usually quite good and I'm a big fan of Homicide Hunter with Joe Kenda. The Will has also had some interesting episodes. Unfortunately, ID continues to add new shows that (imo) don't measure up and are almost embarrassing to watch like Dates from Hell, Wives with Knives and Stalked: Someone's Watching Me. What's next? "Somebody Stole My Purse?"

I'm also disappointed that On the Case with Paula Zahn covers so many older, solved cases that have been profiled on other true crime shows. How many thousands of unsolved cases are there in the US that could benefit from being the subject of one her segments? It's frustrating to see the same cases over and over when there are so many families waiting for answers to unsolved murders and disappearance.

I think with ID having such a big female fanbase, which I'm part of, they think these "Desperate Housewives" type soap opera crime shows will appeal to us. While I do watch them because it's new programming, I do feel they are mocking tragic crimes and unhappy home lives, especially the "Deadly Affairs" program with cheesy music, close-up shots of the actors and the embarrassing dialogue they make Susan Lucci say.

I do like the Stalked show though. It shows you how it's taken sometimes too lightly by law enforcement and the host herself has been stalked so at least she has cred, unlike these relationship experts that do commentary on the "marriage gone wrong" shows.

I don't think they're going to cover a lot of unsolved crimes because I think they feel people just want to see solved crimes, which we know isn't true.

Stalked is okay with me for dealing with such a strong yet prevalent crime that probably wouldn't fit on such other programs about disappearances and murders.

Deadly Affairs and Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets are just embarrassing and demeaning to the victims in different ways. I do agree that such shows are really dragging down the quality.

I concur, most of their new shows seem pretty lackluster. In addition, it seems like they have a new show every 3 months. It seems as though they are aware of the fact that many of their shows are pretty much crap.

However, there is one new show that has the potential to be very good. There's a new show called, "Catch My Killer." The show pertains to unsolved crimes and it's supposed to premier in mid February.

Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets is pretty bad, but at least they did profile the Debi Whitlock case, which is rumored to have been on UM.

I agree that all of the newer shoes are crap and are run way too frequently. They need to bring back 48 hours and 20/20. Those are 2 staples that should never be off the air.

I've totally given up on ID and when I move in a few weeks, will not even bother to have cable/satellite tv in the house.

Almost every time I turn on ID, the featured case involves prostitutes, pole dancers, strippers, porno girls, extremely promiscuous women, etc, etc, etc....

And instead of just being told these people are involved in this kind of lifestyle, we have to watch every pole dance, lap dance, sex for hire session, pool table copulation, graphic seduction, etc, in never ending detail.

ID = all skin and no substance. I'm sick of them.

I was remarking to a friend the other day at work that my favorite cable channel was ID but I had gotten the feeling within the past year or so that it should be re-named SC - Salacious Crap.

I've had just about enough of the "Current Affair" type programming. I really miss shows like "Solved", "Cold Blood", et al. "Disappeared" has really kept the channel afloat in my eyes; otherwise I might just have to completely write them off.

I do realize that they are producing more original content "Behind Mansion Walls" and "Killer Lesbians" (yes, I know the last one is made up) because obviously that type of programming draws a rather substantial audience. However, they mustn't forget their bread and butter real TRUE CRIME shows.

I agree. And the narrators and their supposdly funny and clever lines are so annoying that I actually don't watch several of the newer shows. Not that they are very good, but the cheesy narration is just the last straw.

And The New Detectives. I love the no-nonsense narration and the reenactments. They don't have to resort to unsexy sex scenes with smoke filters and jump cuts. They just tell you so-and-so had an affair and that's it.

Also, have you noticed that the majority of the actresses ID hires for their new shows look like Ann Coulter, with the stringy hair and long gaunt faces? It's very freaky! :eek:

The only shows I use on that channel are Disappeared, On the Case with Paula Zahn and Stalked: Someone's Watching.

I think Stalked is a very useful show since the presenter has actually been stalked so she knows what she is talking about and a show like that can prevent people from getting themselves in bad situations in real life hopefully.

I can't tell you how much I loved New Detectives. I don't have cable any more but when I did ID was showing it at like 4-5am. I love love love the theme song for it (shows just don't have good theme songs anymore) and how it looked like it was shot on video and not produced like a regular show like these newer ones are. Gave it a more realistic feel.

One thing I hate too is that they usually have super attractive people playing the people on these new shows then they show the real picture and you're like "ah, gah!!" lol.

The New Detectives is awesome as well as The Investigators which ran on another network but the same narrator. ID is kind of hit or miss with me. I Almost Got Away With It, Nothing Personal, Disappeared and Imposter are all great shows.

House of Horrors is probably the only new show of 2014 that is actually good. We are hearing from the victims themselves in this show and so it feels genuine all the way throughout.

And to everyone saying The New Detectives was good, I agree. It was straight to the point.

The majority of the shows these days on ID have annoying hosts (Deadly Sins for example. I mute the tv everytime he comes on, so at this point I'm not gonna watch that show at all because I'm not here for having to mute some annoying trash every 10 minutes), the annoying female narrators and shows where they always feature attractive actresses and actors compared to the ugly real life people.

The new show about murderous ministers looks pretty promising. I like Dark Minds with M. William Phelps, Perfect Murder, Very Bad Men, and there was a new show this week called Infamous which was decent too. The Secret Lives of Stepford Wives is silly but it still beats all those other stupid reality shows on TV.

To my understanding season three of this series is starting next week. I was just notified that an episode I interviewed for entitled "Demon in the Dark" will be aired next Saturday the 31st at 9PM.

And yes, this IS my story of the home invasion that resulted in the murder of my second husband and the attempted murder of myself. My son and I agreed to it because I'd seen some prior episodes and thought they always did a good presentation.

I used to be on the Court TV message boards and Court TV did do an episode on the story in 2007 (I believe) in which I was invited to be interviewed but ended up not participating.

I wish I could say I don't have any anxiety, but the people I've worked with have always been total class acts, so I'm trusting the episode turns out well.

It's an unusual experience seeing the worst time in your life on TV. My kids and I have done two network talk shows and it all has a bit of an unreal quality to it. So far I've never turned down a request for an interview, in the case of Court TV I asked to be shown in profile only which THEY declined, otherwise I would have participated in that show. But I've never turned it down because I feel strongly that awareness of domestic violence is too important an issue not to take the opportunity to talk about.

Bucsfan, I'm so sorry about what happened to you, your family, and the loss of your husband. I saw your posts on dreamindemon (I'm not a member there tho, so didn't comment). What an absolutely horrible crime.

I appreciate you joining us here and letting us know about the upcoming program regarding the case. I don't have cable tv but I know the rest of the folks here will watch and discuss the episode.
