Those who love older television should be thrilled. TVLand is dedicating 9am to 9pm with programming that premiered prior to 1990.

I don't watch the network that much (I only watch for King of Queens) but their schedule seems to have a bit of everything for viewers. Kudos.

I will still pass.
All there originals are probably done with there runs this season, till the Exe's returns.

They still have informercials
They continually cut and edit episodes, and rush endings and credits, have off times to increase the commercial exposure.
They will probably cut the Golden Girls, and Curb.

I am so grateful for Antenna TV and Metv :)

I can't believe it took them this long to acquire "The Golden Girls." Now, with shows like Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced, it's a perfect fit. I'll definitely be watching, since Hallmark's late night airings are too late for me.

I actually never would have thought of TV Land airing The Golden Girls. Not sure why. I guess because, for the large part, they haven't been that friendly towards 80s sitcoms in recent years, and have never been that friendly to them overall except for The Cosby Show and Cheers. They should have shown it years ago.

WE has had The Golden Girls on all night - it's been missing from the schedule for months, so I found that interesting with this news. I'll probably watch it on Hallmark more than TV Land, because it'll probably be off the clock and cut more on TV Land (not to mention Hallmark doesn't bug you with ads for the same 2 things all the time).

They REALLY should let Raymond and King of Queens swap times. KoQ does quite a bit better (and WAY better than their original sitcoms), seeing that it is frequently cracking the top 100 cable shows some days. Seems like they aren't letting it live up to its full ratings potential. I don't know why it doesn't make it in to primetime. I'd rather see it than ELR, it's come on at those times for 3 years.

This is a pretty good schedule. Of course people will start finding fault with them, as always, but they have are showing quite a few good shows. My main gripes are the off the clock times and the weekend schedule..

How about reruns of all current shows be banned from the cable channel, period?

(*TV Land's original sitcoms do not count.)

CYE is a currently-running sitcom, though it's still on indefinite hiatus because, "It's always up to Larry David himself if he wants to produce new episodes of the program."

Boycott Curb Your Enthusiasm reruns on TV Land.

Great to see The Golden Girls joining! The Best New TV Land addition in a couple Years.

I do wonder what took TV Land so long to add The Golden Girls to it Line-up? I was also surprise that it was never on Nick @ Nite back when they had all those 80s's shows on it Line-up? It would have fit perfectly with Cheers, Cosby show, Family Ties and Perfect stranger. With all those more current shows on Nick @ Nite now it would not fit very well! I am glad TV Land added it because as of last year I had wondered why it had never made it onto TV Land by 2012? I wonder if Betty White has something to do with it?

I like the Line-up from 7am-7pm, all Pre-1990s shows. Although if they cut two Golden Girls airing and Two Andy Griffin Airings and add one sitcom form the 50s or 60s and another from the 70s then it would be al most near perfect.

I agree, especially since they are repeating the same show twice (Everbody Loves Raymond) and the fact that that those two shows are on quite a few other channels.

Unless Golden Girls is expiring from Hallmark and TV Land will be the only cable station that has it.

But even with that they are still picking up something is not FRESH

Yeah, there aren't many cable stations that have shows that haven't been aired on TV in years, they just mainly have new shows in syndication or stuff that has been seen on TV over and over. TV Land defiantly needs to pick up some new shows that are pre 1990. A good example from me is Welcome Back Kotter.

It doesn't make sense. Not only will they have to edit the show for time (episodes run about 30 min unedited), they'll also have to edit out all of the cursing and that will make the show unwatchable.

When TV Land moves a show it's for a good reason lol

I think TV Land will bag their current originals soon, especially after HIC hits 100 episodes. I don't see how the cost to produce them is justifiable.

Nah, Hot in Cleveland is going to be very valuable for them in syndication. Happily Divorced probably, too. I think they will continue them, plus they have some new shows coming as well (like Kirstie Alley's sitcom). I only posted adults 18-49, but the originals do better in 25-54 and 35+. They make them a lot of money in advertising, especially HiC.

The Exes and The Soul Man are probably not in for the long haul.

The Cosby Show will do better at 6. The Golden Girls will bring in high ratings.

They need to air Three's Company in the overnight every night. Or at least Friday and Saturday nights. They bring in the young crowd.

Friday Nights would be cool. And I will no longer see the Cosby Show because I watch other things from 6pm to 7pm and most other people do too

6pm....Local News

6:30pm......SportsCenter on ESPN

I was watching the cosby show at 8pm because Antenna TV had on All in the family at 8pm. Now I have no way of eating dinner at 8pm to 9pm because I don't like Golden Girls or All in the Family

And The Cosby Show doesn't fit on Nick at Nite anymore with all those 90's and 00s Shows on now. It fit better on TV Land now. It like back when They put three's company on in between Roseanne and The fresh Prince back in 2006... It just doesn't fit well. It need to be surrounded by other shows of it era. I understand why Fuill House is still on Nick at Nite at 6pm since it a Kiddies show.

I think the Cosby Show would still work if it was in between GL and My Wife and kids

12am-George Lopez
12:30am-George Lopez
1am-Cosby Show
1:30am-Cosby Show
2am-My Wife and Kids
2:30am-My wide and kids

That would be a 3 hour block of family shows

Not always true. Roseanne and Three's Company are on together right now on Saturdays and are doing very well for TV Land and skewing young. Even That '70s Show leading into them is doing well.

Full House isn't a kiddie show. It's got a great 18-49 and 25-54 rtg, that's why it is on in primetime from 8-10pm. It fits well out of the Nick shows (and those are not the same era of Full House...)

Interesting to see that King Of Queens appears to do only slightly less than ELR 18-49, but ELR clearly does better 35+.

I'll be interested in seeing how The Golden Girls will do. I know Hallmark has tried it in the afternoons/evenings and it always gets pushed back in to late nights and mornings.

Roseanne and Full House started in the late 80's and ended in the mid to late 90's

The Cosby Show started in the mid 80's and ended in the early 90's

I like TV Land's lineup. I'll watch the shows on there. I do kind of wish they were airing new shows instead of recycling the same stuff you would see on other channels. The Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond, Roseanne etc.

The real problem I have is that I cant even enjoy the channel because they edit the hell out of the shows, the end credits crunch etc. That bothers me and I cant even really enjoy there schedule.

Btw, Pavan, not to sound nosy or anything, but where do you get the ratings for the tv shows? I really find it interesting.

Shows I am tired of:

Roseanne (sick to death of this show, but...there is a span of episodes that I still like, and I have noticed they correspond to the time when Chuck Lorre was a producer. This makes sense for me since I like Lorre's current TV shows. The rest of the Roseanne seasons I find too whiny and annoying.)

Golden Girls (sick to death of this show after seeing it so much on Hallmark)

Three's Company (I find the humor on this and some other 70s shows too cheap too be funny, and I am watching Antenna TV more now that they have dropped this show and The Ropers and Too Close for Comfort, and I am glad TV Land airs Three's Company at times when I am not watching--sorry Pavan, I know you like it :) )

The Cosby Show (I like this show but I have just seen it too much)

Shows I never liked:

King of Queens (I don't like either of the main characters--they're both jerks)

Shows I like:

Everybody Love Raymond (which TV Land is now greatly reducing airtimes)

The Andy Griffith Show (which airs in the daytime when I cannot watch and I'm not going to record because it will just add to the backlog of recordings I have now)

I Love Lucy (never gets old to me, but as with TAGS, airs in the daytime when I cannot watch)

Gunsmoke (airs in the daytime when I cannot watch)

That '70s Show (at least I can watch this late at night)

M*A*S*H, but primarily only the early years, and whenever those early seasons are on, TV Land finds some way to reduce the air time or move it to a time when I cannot watch, as they have done now. I remember one time they were airing huge 2-3 hour blocks of the later seasons and then when it wrapped back to the beginning suddenly they reduced the airtime to 1 hour. I get the feeling that the seasons I like are the ones the TV Land programmers don't.

Never cared for Hot in Cleveland. It looks to me like TV Land is moving to shows in prime time that may appeal more to female viewers, like Hot in Cleveland and The Golden Girls. Shows that might appeal more to male viewers like myself (The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke, Leave It to Beaver) air in the day when most people aren't home or are dropped altogether.

To further prove my point, the only original shows they had that I liked were The Exes and Retired at 35, which have more male protagonists. But these series are hardly ever shown. It would be interesting to get some data on popularity of all the shows on TV Land by gender--I'd be curious to see how that breaks down.

TV Land is a network that no longer seems to reflect my interests or demographics.

Thank goodness I can watch Leave It to Beaver at 11 p.m. weeknights on Antenna TV!

I love the new Antenna TV lineup--Adam-12, Dragnet, The Partridge Family (which I always liked better than The Brady Bunch), Maude, All in the Family, Good Times, Suspense Theatre, Dennis the Menace, Burns & Allen, The Jack Benny Show. I don't care much for Sanford and Son but I wish they would add The Jeffersons.

TV Land was once a channel I loved, but no longer. Thank goodness for MeTV and Antenna TV! I didn't care much for the Antenna TV lineup when we first got it a few years ago, but I love it now! If they would just add The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke and show them late at night, I would tell TV Land where they can go...

That could be a barrier but I just think of it like this- funny is funny. I don't have to relate to every issue that older single women face. I can understand the desire for Rose, Blanche, Dorothy and Sophia to all want to find companionship, friendship and love- that's true of every human being, male or female. And I just think "The Golden Girls" is funny. It does get risque at times and I don't like that- but generally I've always enjoyed it. It's nice to see it back on TVLand. I see someone mentioned it ran for quite a while on Hallmark Channel and thus, they are tired of seeing it there. However, for those who don't have that channel (it'd be nice if I did get this one because they show some good shows there) it's nice to have "The Golden Girls" back on a channel I do get. :)

I heard that Curb got curbed from TV Land because It would be great for TV Land if Seinfeld was on there with Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.

MASH and l LOVE LUCY been on cable forever also so just say you prefer different shows

There was a time just a few years ago when I Love Lucy could not be seen on TV anywhere in my area. This was right when Hallmark acquired the show. Hallmark had problems finding the right spot for I Love Lucy and they kept yanking it off the schedule, which was documented by Pavan on this very site. (I can try to find his blog entry if you don't believe me.) At that time TV Land was no longer airing the show (not sure whether it was because Hallmark had exclusive rights or not, as both networks air the show now).

MeTV had not become a national network yet, and no local station in our area carried I Love Lucy. So there was a period in our area where I Love Lucy could not be found on any channel.

I don't know that I Love Lucy was airing on any other cable channel anywhere at the time, either, when Hallmark first acquired it but kept not airing it. TV Land was certainly not airing it.

Of course now we can see I Love Lucy on MeTV, Hallmark, and TV Land in our area.

I am fairly certain there have been times when M*A*S*H could not be found on any cable channel as well.

But you are right that my point is just that TV Land no longer seems to reflect my interests. The only shows they carry that I like air during the day when I am not at home and cannot watch. And I have enough recordings backlogged as it is to try to record any of those shows.

I guess my point is that TV Land airs very little in prime time or late at night, when I can actually watch, that I like. The two exceptions are Everybody Loves Raymond, which I fear is going to get squeezed out by The Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland, and That '70s Show. Thank goodness I can watch that sometimes.

Someone made the comment that TV Land's daytime lineup was all classics (pre-1980 or so? can't remember exactly) so fans of classic TV should be happy. But that's just my point--they air that stuff during the day when a lot of people are not home. They air none of that in prime time. I think in prime time they are trying to appeal to a different set of demographics than the category I am in.

The real problem I have is that I cant even enjoy the channel because they edit the hell out of the shows, the end credits crunch etc. That bothers me and I cant even really enjoy there schedule.

It wasn't until Warner Archive released the other sets that I realized just how much was cut from Night Court to make way for commercials. Some season 2 and season 3 episodes made no sense in the TV Land run because major plot points were removed.

Speaking of, I'd be upset if TV Land didn't pick up The John Larroquette Show for at least a marathon for the 20th anniversary. They don't need to run it permanently but I'd like to see the show somewhere other than third generation VHS copies transferred to files off of the internet.

The TV Land syndication cuts are huge. They seem to be much bigger than for the same shows running on MeTV or Hallmark. For example, the I Love Lucy episode in which they are in Switzerland starts with Ricky worrying about whether the band will arrive or not. The entire part in which Fred learns he has sent the band to the wrong town and has a big argument with Ricky is cut. In the version on the Hallmark Channel, those parts are shown.

I noticed just within the past year or so TV Land switched to a new syndication package for The Andy Griffith Show. There are some scenes that are now shown that weren't before, but in general there seem to be more cuts than in the previous package. Now many of the tags have been cut--tags that I distinctly remember seeing just a few years ago, such as Barney Fife singing "Pistol-Packing Barney Fife" in the tag for "Crime Free Mayberry." Many of the tags were the funniest bits from the show. Interestingly, the tag for "Barney Mends a Broken Heart" was being shown on TV Land just a few years ago but is cut in the official DVD release. Now in the new package, that tag is no longer shown on TV Land either.

But you're right, one of the worst things (at least, for me) is the closing credits. I used to think the "shrunken credits window," such as the kind still being used on Hallmark Channel, was horrible. I didn't think it could get any worse, but as usual, TV Land found a way to make things worse. Now the closing credits run in a tiny translucent banner in the bottom left corner of the window as the episode is still airing. At least with the shrunken window that filled half the screen, I had a chance of being able to read some names. I do not have a large screen TV, so trying to read names in the tiny banner on TV Land is virtually impossible. Furthermore, after the director and writer credits, when they start displaying the actors' names (which is what I am usually interested in--the name of a guest star), they suddenly greatly accelerate the rate at which the names are displayed. And of course, unlike the "shrunken window" closing credits such as the kind that are still being used on the Hallmark Channel, TV Land is running the closing credits while the episode is still airing, so I have to choose between looking for a credit name, or watching the end of the episode. I usually just watch the end of the episode because the chance that I can read a credit name is very low.

Yes, I can look the credits up on IMDB, but it's so much easier to watch shows on MeTV or Antenna TV and enjoy having the information appear full screen at the end. I'm glad I can now watch The Andy Griffith Show on Netflix, although some of the spontaneity is lost because I can watch any episode at any time. Having grown up during a time before even VCRs, I still enjoy "live TV" more than anything--I just wish there were more "live TV" channels like MeTV and Antenna TV. And when I finally got the series on DVD, I sometimes played the closing credits of The Andy Griffith Show two or three times in a row, just because it had been so long since I had heard the slightly different closing theme with the whistling and the finger snapping at the end.

Still, I wish Antenna TV or MeTV would pick up The Andy Griffith Show and air it in prime time or late night so I don't have to lug out my DVDs or deal with navigating Netflix. I remember when TV Land first acquired The Andy Griffith Show, they aired it in prime time--sometimes as late as 11 p.m. to midnight, I believe. Now all the "old" classics are relegated to the daytime on TV Land when I can't watch it (and I have enough of a backlog of unwatched recordings already to consider recording TV Land during the day).

Someone mentioned One Day at a Time as a possibility for Antenna TV. This seems like a good idea since Antenna TV runs so many other Norman Lear shows.

TV Land is crumbs!

Couldn't agree more

Watched 2 episodes of Golden Girls and they cut parts out for whatever reason. I give up with them.-

And of course they have been promoting this stupid reality show "Forever Young" enough with the reality crap

I am so greatful for alternatives: (Antenna TV, Metv, Rural TV, The Hub)
