View Full Version : Fred and Lamont = Mama and Eunice Frump 01-26-2013, 10:58 PM To me Fred and Lamont have always reminded me of the male version of Eunice and Mama, anyone see that ? lol rollo's girl 02-01-2013, 10:02 PM No. Frump 02-03-2013, 05:48 AM No. Oh please please PLEASE don't do IMDB here lol :) I mean why not, a Son who does everything to try to please his grumpy father, but the father does nothing but critisize and belittle his son, until the son usually explodes on him. And Lamont is always trying to get ahead in life in things like acting, just like Eunice does, only to be brought down by Fred. There are similarities indeed. And it would be fun to have a discussion, other than just a "No". Cloud9 Lorraine 02-03-2013, 12:33 PM While I can see the similarities you point out, I agree with rollo's girl that Mama and Eunice do not remind me of Fred and Lamont. The interactions between Mama and Eunice would always end up in a ridiculous shouting match to the point of absurdity. This is not to discredit Carol Burnett and Vicki Lawrence or criticize their portrayals of Mama and Eunice. I think they achieved what they intended to and were very entertaining. That said, Fred and Lamont did have their share of disagreements and arguments. Fred frequently belittled Lamont, but he also told him he was proud of him. Lamont did get mad at Fred, but also tried to help him. It was more believable and there was also a very endearing relationship between the two. For as many times they were at odds with each other, they were also in agreement and helping one another. Most episodes involved some sort of difference of opinion but didn't always erupt into a big argument. By the end of each episode they came to a level of mutual understanding and respect. |
