Two years after his infamous meltdown that led to his firing from hit CBS comedy "Two And A Half Men", Charlie Sheen was back on the broadcast network last night for a guest appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman" to promote his new series, FX’s "Anger Management".
The interview once again dissected Sheen’s 2011 meltdown, or as Sheen called it “melt-forward.”
"A lot of it was memorable. A lot of it was experiences that I would not otherwise have. I booked a 21-city tour in 33 days with NO ACT! They were like 'Wanna go on tour?' and I was like 'Sure!'."
You were at Radio City Music Hall!
I bombed there on a Friday and I had to come back on a Sunday. Great scheduling there guys...
What did you learn from that? I mean, these are things that normal people don't do.
I guess I'm not a normal person.
Are you a different person now than you were then?
Oh yeah, I feel a change.
Your anger is gone...
Well not all of the anger, you always have to maintain a passion for anger.
Have you ever been to a psychiatrist?
Yes, I've spent 10-years in therapy. I quit around 2-years ago. Hey, that's around the time of the meltdown!
Was that a meltdown? I mean there was so much energy to it.
It was kind of like a melt-forward.
People would come on the show and we'd discuss you 2-3 nights out of the week.
I was honored, so flattered.
Would you ever like to go back to "Two and a Half Men"?
I would like to go back. I would like to appear in the final episode.
Well you know, they did kill you off.
I am dead, but so is the show.
I seriously think they're doing the best they can. I see them going for 1 more season.
I remember the 19-year-old then went crazy and started telling folks to stop watching.
I haven't really spoken to him. I don't know what happened. I think he got influenced by some...
Jon Cryer, do you have any trouble with him. How's that going?
He's great, one of my favorite people.
Didn't you call him a troll?
Well I did, but then I retracted it.
He nothing close to a troll, he's a genius.
I don't know what else to say, I'm happy you're here and that nobody got hurt.
You and me both.
Are you embarrassed about any of this?
Of course! Have you seen some of those interviews?
That's out there forever! If I had to do it again I'd probably be a little less vocal.
Well if you were a little less vocal then it wouldn't have happened at all.
I know.
I think that it was shock and awe for some people, but then it was some admiration like 'How does this guy come up with all of these amazingly descriptive phrases never before uttered in the English-speaking world?'
It was just part of where my mind was going, and thank you.
Then I made t-shirts and it was Boom! It was all a trip.
