Meredith Vieira is leaving "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" after 11 years as host of the syndicated game show.

The former "Today" show host and two-time Emmy winner as best game show host said Thursday she's leaving for other ventures including more work at NBC News.

An executive familiar with Vieira's plans says Vieira will be launching her own YouTube channel with stories on people's lives. The executive spoke on condition of anonymity because the plans haven't been announced yet.

I am surprise a bit for doing a game show like that doesn't take too long. I think they tape a bunch of shows in a day and she had several months off. But then again, she just might be tired of the show. Needs something fresh to do. Don't we all?.

Wow, I had no idea that she'd been the host for 11 years, nor did I even realize it had been on for so long! I don't watch the show every day but I do catch a few minutes every now and then at work and it's a great show. Some of the questions are fairly easy and it's kind of stupid that the contestants always seem to agonize over the answers (getting help from the audience and all of that)-but that's just my opinion. I agree that she probably wants to do other things, and that's admirable.

I wonder who will replace Meredith on Millionaire. She was the first woman host to have a long run hosting a game show. A feat that never happened with Betty White or Elaine Joyce. Vicki Lawrence also had a long run when she hosted the daytime version of Win, Lose or Draw.

Honestly, I think that version should have ended in 2009, if not a few years before that, even. The new format's just so ridiculous, it's not even funny. It should have just been called Million Dollar Shuffle.

yeah, i know! I mean like where's the two chairs and two monitors format that made "Millionaire" so infamous? I haven't seen that come back in a long time ever since they dropped it in 2009.

I enjoyed Cedric when he hosted It's Worth What? in NBC in 2011, and I though IMO that he was more enjoyable as a game show host than Harvey on Feud. as a matter of fact and no offense here but I wished that Cedric was the host of Family Feud than Steve...but that's my opinion.

besides unlike "you know who" on Feud, Cedric never goes to the dirty route and didn't have to be all phony and dumb on It's Worth What? like "You know who" has on Feud.

Nope DVDLover, It's still on!...in syndication that is.

I don't Meredith was a bad host. I do find the chit chat can be a bit long. One day I watched the show and a good 7 minutes of show is chatter. The contestants can ramble on a bit so it would be better to tighten up the show.

Oops I did put in two mores.. only needed one. I happened to watch Millionaire the other day and a gal who was short was a contestant. I felt a bit sorry for her. In the chair you would have never noticed she was short. I am short and I hate it.
