CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 22-year old dancer was seriously injured when she fell from the second floor balcony at Christie’s Cabaret Wednesday morning, city police said.

Two men ran out of the bar after the woman fell, according to police reports.

A witness told police that he was getting a lap dance from the woman when she grabbed a pole, tried to perform a dance move or jump then fell over the rail head first.

The woman was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.

Police are investigating.

hope she's OK and everything, but when I read that headline my first thought was 'damn, how high was that guy's lap?'

I hope she recovers but I can't think of anything more embarassing to have listed as a cause of death than "lapdancing"!!

How sad. She's so young. Head first. So often those injuries cause brain damage. I hope she pulls through 100%.

Last I heard on our local 7 p.m. news, she is still critical, and the family requests prayers and privacy.

CLEVELAND — A woman was seriously injured after a bizarre incident inside a local strip club early Wednesday morning.

It happened at Christie’s Cabaret in The Flats, just after 1 a.m.

According to police, 22-year-old Lauren Block, of Richmond Heights, was reportedly on the second floor of the club when she went over the balcony and landed on her head.

Police said they were first told the woman had been thrown over the balcony, but once they arrived, they realized it was an accident.

According to a report from Cleveland police, a witness said he was getting a lap dance from Block on the second floor of the club when something went terribly wrong.

The reporting officer said this of the incident: “(The witness) stated that (the dancer) grabbed the rail, as he was facing away from the balcony, and she tried to complete some sort of jump/dance move, and accidentally went head first over the rail.”

Block reportedly fell 15 feet and suffered “major head trauma.”

She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.

Police said there is no further investigation on their side, because it appears to have been a horrible accident.

However, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating.

Block recently worked at the Tilted Kilt in downtown Cleveland.

“She was always in a good mood every time I saw her,” Ashley Roach worked with Block and said, she too, once worked at Christie’s.

She’s baffled as to how her friend could have fallen over the railing.

“It’s mind boggling, honestly. You hear about girls falling off the pole because they didn’t grab hard enough. Like, those are just common things. But not over a railing,” Roach said.

“I hope for the best. I hope she pulls through and I hope everything is ok,” she said.

I've always wondered why guys go to strip clubs and these are the same guys who will diss guys who get with prostitutes. At least prostitutes give guys sex for money because strippers won't have sex with guys. It's sad that so many guys are addicted to strippers but i can't judge them because i used to deal with prostitutes. I think guys that go to strip clubs can't get girlfriends but guys that get with prostitutes can't get girlfriends either. It sucks being single because i love women but i'm done chasing after them because i'm sick of their attitudes. I hope this stripper gets better and she needs to find a better job because if she isn't careful, she'll make stripping a career. It's sad that some women that are strippers won't get a real job because they're only thinking of the money they're making and they don't think they can make a lot of money at a real job. Strippers need to watch The Players Club movie with LisaRaye, rapper Ice Cube, Bernie Mac, Jamie Foxx and learn a lesson from LisaRaye's character who was only stripping to pay for her college classes. Her female cousin worked at the strip club with her but she ended up getting beat up real bad by a black guy who she was gonna strip for at his birthday party and she quit after that because i guess almost dying made her wake up and get a real job.

This is TOTALLY off the subject but I MUST respond to what you wrote. Speaking as a man who has had 3 long-term monogamous relationships with 3 very different women and also a man that frequents strip clubs and prostitutes, the reason men prefer the two latter is that women want a LOT of your time and attention. Sometimes you feel like a nut - and ONLY a nut. Sometimes you DON'T want to talk about your feelings or how your day was. Sometimes you just want it right there and right now - without the slightest hint or effort of romance or communication. I hope this explanation was helpful to everyone who always wondered why men love strip clubs and prostitutes.

You're exactly right and i'm glad you aren't afraid to say you deal with prostitutes because a lot of guys diss guys who deal with prostitutes. I'm not afraid to say i've dealt with prostitutes but i stopped because i got tired of wasting money because i'd rather be in a relationship. I don't have to have sex often and i know most guys want sex often and that's why some guys go to strip clubs and deal with prostitutes. You even have some guys who deal with escort service women like actor Charlie Sheen LOL. I've never watched pornos and bought porno magazines and most guys are into that. I hope i can be in a relationship one day and if that doesn't happen, i'm not gonna deal with prostitutes and i'm not gonna go to strip clubs because i don't like wasting money. I know when you're in a relationship, you have to spend money on women but i'd rather do that than get with prostitutes and go to strip clubs.

I can relate. I used to be big on strip clubs / dungeons when I was younger. I just liked to chill there and unwind, I liked the attention. Even though I payed for some of it, I didn't care.

I wasn't big on strippers, I was more into BDSM (dominatrix). It was hard to find women (lovers) who would be into the same kinks as I. I don't really date anyone outside of "the scene" for this reason. I had many awkward conversations with potential partners about my bedroom habits. This was way before 50 Shades of Grey became all the rage and now everyone wants it.

I can't really be with a lover who isn't into what I'm into. Yes there's more to romances than sex, but to me that's a big part of a relationship and if we can't negotiate the terms then I'm not sticking around with you. So early on I just wanted someone "to play with" as opposed to a relationship so I can get my kink fixes.

Eventually, I became close friends with some Doms and then we played around for no money. We both enjoyed each others company and trusted one another.

I then briefly worked as a security guard for one popular dominatrix. I escorted her to various clubs, parties, and events keeping the creeps away, lol. I also briefly worked as a male performer when I was approached to do it at a club.

So yeah, some guys just want "no strings attached" sexual encounters, and that's fine. To me as long as you're open about it with your partner (if you have one),do everything consensual and stay smart I say "live life".

By the way, I wish this poor woman nothing but the best and a quick recovery.

JamesG, have you seen Magic Mike movie with Channing Tatum and Matthew McCanoughey(did i spell his last name right?)? I mentioned this movie since you said you were a male stripper for a minute LOL. I haven't seen the movie. I did see No Strings Attached movie with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher and this movie does relate to the topic. It's a good movie and i understand why some guys like Ashton's character could fall in love with a woman when you've been having sex with her often. I was glad Natalie decided to be with Ashton. I also saw Friends With Benefits movie with Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. That movie was ok but i like No Strings Attached better. Mila has a nice booty. I saw her naked in one scene LOL. I was surprised to see rapper Ludacris in No Strings Attached. Lake Bell was also in No Strings Attached and she's hot. It was funny seeing her play a nerd.

I thought about having a no strings attached relationship with women because i figure i don't have anything in common with women because they talk too much and i don't like to talk a lot. Plus most women aren't into basketball and football and movies and rap music like me. But now when i think about, i would like to be in a relationship because i've been in a relationship before with a black woman and i liked her a lot and i shouldn't have broken up with her. The reason i broke up with her is because she has 3 daughters and at the time i didn't want a woman who has kids but now i realized i made a mistake because she was good to me and her daughters liked me.

It's McConaughey.

I wasn't a stripper, more of a naked male performer. I didn't "strip" in the sense of dance around a stage flinging my shirt around. For me it was more like a dominatrix wanting to show off her new spanking tools so she would spank me up on stage and talk about how it works.

That was fun I must say... lol.

I really have no desire to see Magic Mike or any of those flicks. One that I do want to check out is Shame starring Michael Fassbender as a sex addict.

CLEVELAND —A 22-year-old exotic dancer has died one week after she was injured in a fall from a second-floor balcony while performing at a club in Cleveland.

MetroHealth Medical Center confirmed the death of Lauren Block of Richmond Heights on Wednesday.

The hospital relayed a family statement expressing appreciation for the community's support and prayers and efforts to save her life.

Exotic Dancer Who Fell During Lap Dance Dies

Posted on: 8:33 am, January 9, 2013, by Lindsay Buckingham, updated on: 12:37pm, January 9, 2013

CLEVELAND — The exotic dancer who fell from a second floor balcony while giving a customer a lap dance has died.

The family of 22-year-old Lauren Block released the following statement Wednesday morning through MetroHealth Medical Center officials:

“We would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support and prayers for Lauren. She has passed away but is an organ donor, and we hope this will enable her to save many lives and live on through others. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at MetroHealth. They worked tirelessly to do all they could to save her life. We ask that the media respect our privacy during this difficult time. We know that she’s in God’s hands.”

Block had been listed in critical condition since January 2, when she suffered a fall at Christie’s Cabaret.

Officials said the Richmond Heights woman was attempting some sort of dance move when she went head first over the rail, falling 15 feet to the floor.

Early 911 calls about the accident led investigators to initially believe she may have been pushed, but they later concluded it was in fact a tragic accident.

Meanwhile, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says they are trying to determine if they have jurisdiction to investigate the accident. A decision is expected in the next few weeks.

That makes me remember back when I was a junior in high school (circa 2001)... This was a month or so after 9/11. A guy in my grade threw a party, and one of the attendees was a guy who had just graduated from HS that spring (May '01). He got really drunk, fell down the stairs at my classmate's house and hit the wall at the bottom of the stairs, head first. He didn't survive that... He was just 18 and had been out of HS for only 6 months at that point. :(

It is so sad to hear that she didn't make it. So young, too. Never really had the chance to enjoy adulthood. At 22, you're most likely done with college and just starting to really work and finding your place in life. May she RIP. :(
